The briefing room was as cold and sterile as every other space in the World Government's headquarters, all white marble and oppressive authority. You sat with your posture relaxed, one leg crossed over the other, but your attention was sharp despite your casual demeanour.
The pen in your hand tapped a steady rhythm against the polished table as the senior official droned on about territorial disputes and political complications that meant very little to you. What mattered was the target, the timeline, and the execution.
"The revolutionary sympathiser has been operating out of a merchant hub on the Grand Line" the official continued, sliding a photograph across the table. "He's well protected, well liked by the locals. This requires precision. No traces. No witnesses who understand what happened".
You leaned forward slightly, eyes scanning the image. Middle aged man, unremarkable features, the kind of face that disappeared in a crowd. Perfect cover for someone funding rebellion.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
Your pen continued its rhythm as you committed the details to memory. You thought over extraction points, backup plans, the political theatre that would need to be maintained. It was all standard fare for CP0.
"Lucci. Kaku. You'll provide the primary strike force" the official continued, his gaze moving to your companions. "Your success rate speaks for itself". Beside you, Rob Lucci sat with the stillness of a predator at rest. He hadn't moved since the briefing began, his hands folded on the table, his expression carved from stone.
Even in stillness, he radiated a deadly aura. His eyes were fixed on the official, absorbing every word with mechanical precision. On his other side, Kaku sat with considerably more visible engagement, his angular features set in concentration as he studied the mission parameters.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Y/N" the official's attention snapped to you, "you will handle intelligence and infiltration. Your ability to integrate with civilian populations without raising suspicion is why you're on this assignment. We need eyes inside before the strike". You nodded once, a small smile playing at your lips. "Of course".
Tap. Tap. Ta-
Your hand stopped mid motion, pen pressed firmly against the table by another hand. Long fingers, calloused and strong, held your pen in place with unmistakable intention. You didn't need to look to know who it belonged to, but you turned your head anyway, meeting Rob Lucci's gaze.
His dark eyes bored into yours with an intensity that would have made lesser agents flinch. There was no expression on his face, no obvious anger or irritation, but the message was clear. Stop.
