A/N: A short but sweet little comfort piece! I really really really hope you like this one!

You had been a part of the Straw Hat crew for a long time, long enough that your name was etched into the routine of life on the Thousand Sunny.

Long enough to know everyone's quirks and rhythms. Long enough that, when Luffy had confessed he liked you, really liked you, you hadn't thought it was a joke.

You were his now, and you still got butterflies when you thought about it, but lately... those butterflies had started to flutter differently.

It wasn't Luffy's fault. If anything, he was the sweetest he'd ever been. He'd tug you into his lap during meals, sneak you the last piece of meat when he thought no one was looking, and fall asleep with his head in your lap under the sun dappled deck.

His smiles, his spontaneous hugs, the way he called your name so brightly, it should have made you feel special. Instead, it made you feel like a fraud.

Because everyone on this ship had a purpose. You saw it in the way Nami expertly charted their course through unpredictable waters, her eyes scanning maps with sharp precision.

You saw it in the way Robin sat peacefully with ancient texts spread before her, brushing dust off secrets of the Void Century like it was nothing.

You smelled it in Sanji's cooking, tasted it in every meal he plated with pride. Even Usopp, who still panicked sometimes, had his slingshot, his gadgets, his bravery.

Zoro's strength, Brook's music, Franky's craftsmanship, Jinbe's calm navigation of the helm, Chopper's healing hands... and then there was you.

You trained, you helped, you tried, but that morning, you'd tripped during practice with Zoro. Nothing serious, he hadn't even laughed, but the sting of embarrassment had stuck with you like a bruise.

Later, when Luffy and Chopper were hauling supplies from a small island port, you'd offered to help. Luffy had grinned and said, "Nah, it's okay! You can relax today!". You knew he meant well, but your chest had tightened anyway.

You watched him now from the other side of the ship, his straw hat bobbing as he leaned over the railing, pointing at something in the water and calling out to Usopp.

He was so full of life, so simple in his joy... and yet so extraordinary. He made friends out of enemies. He dared to dream bigger than the world allowed, and somehow, he'd chosen you.

You tugged your knees to your chest and wrapped your arms around them, forehead resting just above your knees. What did you bring to the crew, really? What did you bring to him?

You were startled when a shadow fell over you. You looked up, and there he was, Luffy, with the sun framing him like something out of a painting. His smile curved easily as he plopped down beside you, stretching out his legs.
