A/N: I fear you may look at some of the stuff I wrote early on and feel like huh?? That doesn't fit the request, buuuut I have explanations I swear! Anyway I looooved this one! I loved getting to finally read Law's story and ugh, my heart loves a childhood friends to lovers story so, here we go!

The sun hung low over Swallow Island, bleeding gold across its fields. Law wiped the back of his wrist across his forehead, smearing dirt and sweat together, then returned to directing Bepo. The bear pounded stakes into the ground in the greenhouse, trying to mimic Law's precision, despite lacking any real finesse.

"You're hitting them too deep" Law muttered. "Oh. Sorry" Bepo apologised earnestly. He pulled one stake back out, too far this time. Law exhaled through his nose, irritation simmering, but not quite scathing. "Just... hold the next one. I'll do it".

Bepo nodded, large paws gripping the wood carefully while Law hammered at his own pace, fast, controlled, exact. It was the most efficient use of their day. Penguin and Shachi were taking care of the traps by the lake, so a fair workload was distributed. For once, they might get back before the sun set.

That expectation ended the moment two voices tore through the air. "LAW!!!". "BEPO!!! HELP!!!". Both turned at once, peeking out the greenhouse. Penguin and Shachi sprinted across the uneven grass, stumbling, shouting, and, carrying something.

Bepo straightened in alarm. "Are they hurt?". "No" Law cut that train of thought off sharply. "They're panicking, not bleeding".

The two boys closed the distance, breathless and pale, and only when they were close enough did the shape in their arms become clear. A body. A girl. Loose limb dangling, head lolling, clothing dirty and damp. They nearly dropped you into Law's arms.

"We don't even know what happened?!" Shachi panted, bent over. "We just found her in the woods, by the lake!" Penguin wheezed. "She's not dead, right? She's not dead?!". Law barely heard them. His fingers pressed at your neck, searching for a pulse. Weak... but there. His gaze flicked over your condition.

Skin cool from exposure. Breathing shallow. Clearly little to no food in a while, you'd probably been living on scraps. Dark circles, chapped lips. Fever beneath the chill. "Malnourished" he muttered. "Dehydrated. Infection. Fever".
