A/N: Bloody hell, I struggled with so much writers block, but it's DONE, and it's sickeningly sweet, so enjoy!!

The elephant was walking. You could feel it, the gentle, rhythmic sway beneath your feet that came from standing on the back of a creature the size of an island. Zou.

The ancient elephant, Zunesha, had walked the seas for a thousand years, carrying an entire civilisation on its back through currents and storms and the endless march of time. Though for you, it was, quite possibly, the least strange thing that had happened in the past few weeks.

Currently you sat in the small room that had been provided for you and Rosinante, staring at the wall without really seeing it. Law had left you here so he could see his crew again, and prepare them for your arrival.

You didn't mind it. He could do what he needed to do, and you'd continue staring at this wall. Your vision blurred at the edges, unfocused, as your mind already wandered somewhere else entirely. Cataloguing and processing.

In ways you were still trying to make sense of the whirlwind that had become your life since that impossible moment when you'd found Law alive, because, of course, meeting Law again after thirteen years came with complications.

Enormous, violent, life threatening complications that involved overthrowing warlords and storming kingdoms and watching people you cared about nearly die in front of you.

In Law's defence, he had warned you, and immediately pulled both you and Rosinante into his planning. You could still hear Law's voice, steady and measured, as he walked you both through his plan with meticulous attention to every detail.

Contingencies discussed, and risks calculated. That's when it first hit you just how much he'd changed from the boy you'd known, grown into someone who could orchestrate the downfall of one of the most powerful men in the world without his voice ever wavering.

Then had come the alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates, a group of absolute lunatics who'd somehow become central to everything. Monkey D. Luffy, with his infectious grin and complete disregard for common sense or self preservation.

His crew were each more bizarre than the last but undeniably competent in ways that defied logic, a swordsman who couldn't find his way out of a straight corridor, a navigator who could predict weather patterns with supernatural accuracy, a cook who fought with his legs, a reindeer doctor, and a skeleton musician. The list went on.

Finally there had been Dressrosa itself. Your hands clenched in your lap, knuckles going white with the force of the memory. The chaos. The violence. The sheer, overwhelming terror of watching Law and Rosinante face down Doflamingo while you were on the sidelines, too far away to help, too close to look away.

You'd seen him for yourself then, the man who'd shot Rosinante and left him to die in the snow, who'd traumatised a ten year old so thoroughly the scars still showed thirteen years later, who'd built an empire on suffering and slavery and called it his kingdom with a smile on his face.
