A/N: I LUV MY BABY, so here we go!!
The Polar Tang hummed softly beneath the sea, steady and calm, until Shachi's voice broke through the peace like a cannonball.
"I had three guys on me, all swinging blades" he announced from the top of the mess table, arms stretched wide like a hero from some over the top adventure novel. "And what did I do? I blocked em all. One hand. Easy".
Penguin didn't look up from his cup. "Wasn't that the time you tripped over your own boot and got stuck in a crab trap?". Shachi clicked his tongue. "Details, details. You gotta let the story breathe".
"Maybe let the story drown" Ikkaku grumbled, tossing a damp towel at him from across the room. It slapped against his face with a satisfying splat. Bepo, bless him, tilted his head. "I think you yelled something cool before the trap closed. That counts for something".
"See?" Shachi beamed, flicking the towel away like it was part of the show. "Bepo gets it". Before he could launch into another tale of glory and exaggeration, the door slid open and Law stepped in, eyes scanning the room with clinical detachment.
His gaze barely lingered on Shachi before he spoke. "Get off the table". Shachi froze mid-gesture. "I- uh, yeah". Law didn't wait for a reply. He turned and strode off without another word, coat swishing behind him like the final curtain on Shachi's performance.
Later, in the command room, the mood shifted. "We'll be surfacing shortly" Law announced, standing at the front of the gathered crew. "We're approaching an island known for high outlaw activity. Wildlife is aggressive. Terrain is unstable. Stay sharp".
The crew fell silent, eyes focused. Even Bepo's ears perked up at the tone in Law's voice. "There are reports of venomous plants and terrain shifts triggered by noise. We'll only be on the surface for supplies and fuel. No unnecessary delays".
He looked around the room, as if daring anyone to interrupt. Of course, Shachi took that dare. "Oh, come on" he scoffed, arms crossed with a cocky grin. "Sounds like a vacation spot. Bit of danger, wild adventure, right up my alley".
Penguin rolled his eyes. "Everything's up your alley until it punches you in the throat". "Hey, I handle danger" Shachi insisted, pointing a thumb at his chest. "Danger and I are on a first name basis".
"Then maybe it'll leave you flowers" Ikkaku muttered. Bepo frowned thoughtfully. "Captain should we bring extra medical kits?"
Law didn't even acknowledge the banter. He simply walked over to the console and tapped a few keys. "Surface in ten. Gear up. You're all dismissed".
The tension lingered as the crew moved through the narrow corridors, prepping for landfall. The lights shifted as the Polar Tang angled upward, climbing toward the surface.
Shachi leaned against a wall near the hatch, lazily spinning a wrench in one hand like it was a weapon. "I'm telling you, this island's gonna love me".
