A/N: wow, this might be the most random pool of characters I've ever written, as well as the most in one bunch of reactions! We're at 35k for this one! I hope I did this justice!! Enjoy<3.
Luffy It was a perfect day for doing absolutely nothing productive. The sea was calm, the sun was warm, and Luffy had declared it a 'play day' approximately three seconds after finishing breakfast. Which meant the deck of the Sunny had devolved into chaos, the fun kind.
You were currently losing a game that Luffy had invented on the spot, which seemed to involve trying to tag each other while hopping on one foot and making animal noises. The rules changed every thirty seconds. You were pretty sure he was just making them up as he went.
"No, no, you gotta do the elephant trunk!" Luffy demonstrated, arm swinging from his nose while he hopped in a circle. "Like this!". "That looks nothing like an elephant!" you protested, laughing so hard you could barely breathe. "Does too!"
You attempted your own version, immediately lost your balance, and crashed into him. You both went down in a tangle of limbs, rolling across the deck. "I win!" Luffy declared from underneath you. "That's not how winning works!". "Is too! I said so!"
You were both laughing, the kind of belly laughs that made your sides ache. This was what you loved about Luffy, everything was an adventure, everything was fun. There was no self consciousness, no worrying about looking stupid. Just pure, unfiltered joy.
Nami walked past, shaking her head with a smile. "You two are ridiculous". "You're just jealous of our elephant skills!" Luffy called after her. You finally managed to get up, offering Luffy a hand. He took it, but instead of standing, he pulled you back down to sit on the deck beside him.
"That was fun" he said, grinning that huge, sunshine grin that was so quintessentially Luffy. "Yeah, it was" you agreed. He tilted his head, looking at you with that strange intensity he sometimes got, the one that made you remember he was more observant than people gave him credit for.
"Hey" he blurted suddenly. "My heart feels funny when I'm with you". You blinked. "What?". "Yeah! Like... it goes really fast and feels all warm and stuff. Like when I'm about to fight someone really strong, but different. It's weird!" He pressed his hand to his chest, as if trying to feel it. "Does your heart do that too?"
"Luffy, I-" You weren't sure how to respond to that. "Maybe you're just excited from playing?". "Nah, it happens other times too. When you laugh, or when we're eating together, or when-"
"LUFFY IS IN LOOOOVE!". Usopp's voice rang out across the deck like a foghorn. Your head snapped up. Half the crew had apparently been in earshot, Usopp, Chopper, and Brook were near the mast, and Nami and Robin had stopped their conversation to listen. Even Zoro had cracked open one eye from where he was napping.
"What?!" you and Luffy said simultaneously. "That's what being in love feels like!" Chopper chimed in, his little voice excited. "A fast heartbeat and warm feelings!". "Really?" Luffy looked genuinely curious. "Is that what that is?". "Oh my god" you muttered under your breath.
