There were few people in this world as beloved as you. You were Edward Newgate's daughter, his little girl, his pride and joy. No matter how old you got, how independent you tried to be, you were still his princess.

It didn't matter that Marco and Thatch towered over you now, their teasing relentless, or that you had spent years proving you could hold your own among them. At the end of the day, in the eyes of your father, you could do no wrong, and everyone in his circle knew it.

Growing up in the shadow of your father came with expectations. Strength, loyalty, unwavering respect, but unlike your brothers, you were never pushed toward the real world, never expected to get your hands dirty. You were protected, admired, adored, almost untouchable.

And, to your frustration, you were bored out of your mind. It wasn't that you were unhappy. Life had been good to you. You had a strong family, a powerful last name, and two younger brothers who worshipped the ground you walked on, even when they made a point of teasing you relentlessly.

Wherever you went, people treated you with a kind of reverence, as if you were some untouchable princess, because, in a way, you were.

"You need to stop looking so miserable," Thatch said one evening, flopping down beside you on the porch of your family's massive estate. The house itself was a statement of power, its size intimidating to outsiders, but to you, it had always been home.

"I'm not miserable" you replied, though the sigh that followed didn't help your case. Marco chuckled from the chair across from you, tipping his beer back before levelling you with an amused glance. "You sound miserable".

Thatch smirked, nudging your arm. "What's up, Princess? Life of luxury got you down?". You shot him a look, but he only grinned wider. He was always like this, playful, insufferable, but impossible to stay mad at.

Marco, on the other hand, was calmer, the responsible one, though he was no less overbearing when it came to you. "You guys are annoying" you muttered, drawing your knees up to your chest as you stared out at the street beyond the estate's front gate.

It was quiet this time of night, the streetlights casting long shadows, the hum of distant engines the only thing breaking the silence. Annoying as your brothers were, they weren't wrong.

You had everything, comfort, security, a family that cared about you, but it all felt too safe. Too predictable. Every day was the same, every interaction controlled by the weight of your father's name.

People treated you like you needed to be handled carefully, like you weren't capable of making your own choices. You loved your father, truly, but his protectiveness was suffocating.

Marco stretched, his muscles flexing beneath his shirt as he gave you an unimpressed look. "You should get out more".

"You mean with Dad watching me?" you said dryly. "Yeah, sounds like a blast". Thatch laughed. "Oh, come on. Don't tell me Daddy's little princess is trying to sneak out".
