Chapter 28 - Divine Will *

"We will be back female. You can take a look around, you can even organize the herbs and medicines. You can ask me anything as a reward after."

"We are just right outside the house my wife. This will be quick."

Dumu kissed her forehead as she closes her eyes with a smile.

"Take your time. I think I might enjoy organizing things in here. Go... I'm sure you'll need catching up to do with him."

He hugged her tight and kissed the top of her head, "my wife is so considerate and kind. I am the luckiest husband in the beast world."

"Yah yah yah, stop making me envy you two. I would think that this rude and cold snake got possessed by a divine being and it makes me want to puke."

The couple chuckled to each other as Edi left the house first. Dumu gave her one long kiss before leaving her inside the witch doctor's house.

"Is she the one that has been haunting you in your dreams?"

Edi was squatting on a slab of rock while folding some leaves with nuts and other things. He folded it so small before putting it inside his mouth then chewed. Dumu sat beside him as he looks at the witch doctor's house.

"Yes. I take it that she is the female in my dreams. And you were right. I found and saved her from the forsaken grassland. The forsaken mountain was angry at that time."

"We felt the tremors in the village. I had guessed that it was because of the angry mountain. I am glad you and that female are safe.

I believe you did not bring her here just to sell herbs and tell me that I were right, yes? I always know I am right hahahahahah...."

"Can I ask you to bless the both of us as to make our mating ritual sacred? I want the beast god to be a witness and to also thank the almighty that I have fulfilled his divine will."

Edi pats his shoulder while he chews on his moma**. He spits on the ground before nodding at him.

"A divine will shown through dreams... not everyone can experience that. I accept to bless you and your mate. Tomorrow night will be the best to do this for the four moons are full. Prepare offerings for that would be needed. I will tell chief Jedrek that I will perform a ritual at the altar."

"I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot describe to you how happy I am to finally find a mate and not just an ordinary mate. A mate given to me by the beast god."

"I remember you telling Gilda that you prefer to die as a single beast man rather than accepting to be her mate. The embarrassment on her face I can still vividly call to mind. She deserves to be rejected by two five-starred beasts. The tribe has spoiled her too much.".

"She caused another ruckus earlier but my wonderful wife put her to her place that she cannot even answer back. I did not know that it felt so heart-warming when someone is willing to stand up for you and defend you unconditionally."

"You lucky snake bastard. You must have done something to save the beast world in your past life for having this much luck."

"It is hard to believe, I know. But I am not liking the attention she is getting from other males. Even males with mates cannot resist to even look and desire for her beauty."

"You know females can have as many mates as they want, yes?"

"I know. But I am greedy. I want her all to myself. I feel murderous everytime it happens."

"That is one reason why other beasts brands you snakes as savages. Your killing intent can be felt even from a long distance."

"I have not felt this much happiness in my whole life. I never wished for a mate until I met her. Can you blame me for not wanting to share her with others? I do not want to lose this feeling."

"My only advise to you is to be a little more open and understanding. The harvest season will start after the full moons ending the dry season. You have 183 days before dead season starts. As a wandering beast, it will be very hard for your female to survive the dead season. And have you forgotten that you are a snake? What do you do during that season?"

"I... I have not thought that far."

"If worse comes to worst, you can go back here. My house is open for the two of you. Just think about your mate...."

"Your wooden house is not enough to block the cold...."

"It is still better than not having shelter, yes? And I can take care of your female while you hibernate. She can help me in return with making medicine. I can even teach her the basics. It is just another option I am giving you for you and your mate."

"I... will think about it. And I have to discuss this with my wife. We promised to be honest with each other and we will do things together."

"Not all females think like that. This snake bastard got really lucky this time." Edi sighs. "She is no ordinary female, your mate. I can feel the breath of a bird but I cannot tell what tribe she belongs to, yet it is familiar... very familiar. She reminds me of the legend of the Ancients and I do not know why...."

"Are you talking about the loyal beasts of the beast god?"

"Yes. There is a legend that is passed down from the old generations of witch doctors to the new. I am sure that many versions have spread for it is only passed through word of mouth. Some things can be omitted, some can be added.

The legend is about the divine war that happened long before our great grandfathers were even born and how the Ancients protect and defend the beast god Nabu and the mother of all Gaia. No one knows what happened to them after the war.

They said that the Ancients died to protect the beast world. Some say they have transcended to divine beings for helping the beast god Nabu.

That is one reason why many beasts believed that having ten stars is not the peak of being the most powerful beast. If you get chosen and can pass the test of the Ancients, they will bestow you their power and be recognized as the new Ancients."

"How is my wife connected to those? I think you are getting too old. You need to find a new witch doctor to replace you."

"You ungrateful snake bastard! Forget it! You stupid snake will never understand."
