"We made a lot of containers using the bamboos from our tent. Getting rid of those will make travelling easier and lighter. I think our two baskets are enough for both of us husband."
"I agree wife. I will go to the witch doctor and sell these so we can leave. We can plan what to do next while we travel to our next destination."
"Okay. I'll just organize our stuff inside our baskets so we'll be ready to go when you come back. Don't make me wait long."
"I will never make my wife wait long."
Dumu gave her a quick kiss before leaving. Asha got busy separating the clean pelts from the dirty ones. She did the same with their clothes. She got their containers to fill them with water in the river when she heard footsteps getting near her.
"Are you leaving today female?"
It was Jedrek that came. She bows her head in greeting and continued what she was doing.
"Yes chief. I'm just waiting for Dumu to come back from witch doctor Edi."
"Why should you do things like that? Filling containers with water? Your mate should not have left you to do those. Males should do everything for their female. A female should be pampered and taken care of, yes?"
Asha closes the last container and stood up to face him.
"Yes. But why can't I help my mate to do things like this simple errand? Because I'm a female? Being mates doesn't mean that he is going to be my slave. Husband and wife share responsibilities. We help each other because we love each other and we take care of each other. I wouldn't just let Dumu do everything while I just lay around lazily. It's my own decision to do this to show how much I appreciate my husband do things for me.
I guess this is why the females are always considered weak because they don't do anything. It's not just the females fault but the males also has a say in that too. If you don't spoil your females too much, like the ones in your tribe, they wouldn't know nothing but be arrogant and disdainful."
"Why are you so different female? Can you just behave like other females? Dependent on males? Bear cubs for your race? Enjoy life with many mates that will serve you whatever you like? Do you not want a carefree life? Why be so different?"
"Sorry to disappoint you but I hate the standards that you implement and follow."
Jedrek can't stop himself from wanting to touch her long red wavy hair. He reached his hand out to hold even a single strand of her hair but Asha hit his hand with hers and backs a step away from him.
"I didn't give you permission to touch me."
"Asha...."
"I told you my name to introduce myself in greetings but I never told you that you can call me by my name casually. Only my family and close friends can call me by my name."
"I am the chief of the fox tribe. I'm also a five-starred fox beast. Why am I not allowed to call you by your name like your mate does?"
"You are the chief but you are neither my family nor my friend. And I don't care if you are a five-starred beast or higher. We are thankful that you let us stay in your tribe but that doesn't mean that you can just do whatever you want even if we don't like it."
"Do you not want to stay here anymore? Our tribe is strong enough to protect females like you. Staying with a wandering beast like that snake is dangerous for you."
"The path I chose is a path to adventure. It isn't an easy path to take for it has a lot of twists and turns. Is it dangerous? Yes. But the thrill of going to an adventure you can't predict where it leads will keep it fun and exciting. It led me to my husband noh? Our paths combined. Now, it's filled with warmth and life is worth spending as long as we are together wherever our joined paths lead us."
"You do not know the danger if you wander like your foolish mate. Females without the protection of a tribe dies easily."
Asha shakes her head in disbelief as she snickers.
"So tell me, fox tribe chief. What should a female like me who is different from other females do so I can stay in your tribe?"
"Be my mate. If you let me be your mate, then I can let you stay in this tribe and be protected."
"I already have a mate."
"I can also let him stay and be a member of the fox tribe. He will not be branded as a wandering beast anymore. He can still be your mate, I do not mind sharing. I will even agree if you want to have more mates."
"You said it's dangerous if I stay with my husband? But I think you're wrong. It's more dangerous if I'll stay here. Sorry chief but I don't want to be your mate. Why don't you ask the most beautiful female of your tribe to be your mate? You two would make a Lovely Pair," she said the last in a sarcastic tone.
"Gilda proposed to me but I rejected her. I do not want her, I want you."
She really has a knack for strong males then. Can't blame her for that.
"Sorry but I have to reject you like how you rejected her because I don't like you. Now, if you may excuse me, I need to check our things so we can leave this place right away."
She picked up all her containers and left Jedrek standing at the riverbank. He watched her walk away from him making him boiling with anger inside.
"Asha wait...."
A sudden strike made Jedrek get thrown and destroy a row of huge trees from the impact. Asha looked back when she heard the loud crash and saw her husband standing in his half-beast form.
"You, do not have the right to speak my wife's name from your dirty mouth. This fox tribe will lose a chief today."
Jedrek wipes the blood from his mouth as he stands up from the pile of broken tree trunks.
"You can try, but you will not succeed. I will make sure that your female will be happy with me after your death snake beast."
That made Dumu furiously mad as he rushed towards Jedrek to attack.
