"Oh my. Sir, Good morning. You are here," mum said, claiming Mr Caesar's attention.
"Yeah," he said, his eyes moving to me. "Smith is on leave. I decided to come myself." He said, still looking at me.
I lowered my gaze, uneasy to the core.
"That's very nice. Rose is ready to leave." She said, caressing my hair. I threw a glance at Mr Caesar.
His eyes are on me.
I lowered my gaze instantly.
"What is he doing here?" He asked, increasing my heart's pace.
"Your son?" Mum asked. "Oh he....
"Thank you for your hospitality, ma'am," CJ retorted, making us look his way.
He is smirking. "You are very nice,"
"It is my pleasure, dear." Mum said, smiling. I looked towards Mr Caesar. He is gritting his teeth and scowling at CJ.
"See you at school, Rose," CJ said, opening his car door and entered.
"Bye, I hope you visit again," mum said.
"Mum," I called.
"What?"
I heaved a sigh.
CJ drove backwards, heading for the gate.
"Bye!" mum said, waving her hands at him till he was out of sight.
"You have a very lovely son, sir," mum said.
Oh God.
"And you two have a very strong resemblance," she added.
I looked away, feeling Mr Caesar's anger. If only my mum knew that they are sworn enemies, she wouldn't be praising his son in his face.
"We should go now, Rose," Mr Caesar said, making me look at him.
He is walking towards the driver's seat. God, he is beyond pissed.
"Yes, yes, sure. Thank you so much, sir." Mum said, moving me ahead gently. I headed for the passenger seat.
"See you later in the day, sweetie," mum said.
I nodded as I opened the door and entered the car. After closing the door, Mr Caesar started the car. With my sweaty hands, I fixed my seatbelts and relaxed.
I glanced at him a bit but looked ahead.
My mum was still standing there, smiling at us as we drove backwards. We got out of the compound and drove off.
I focused my gaze on the window as we drove. I can tell how pissed he is right now. I just wish he would remain silent till I get to school.
I really don't want....
"Why was he at your house?"
I spoke too soon.
I flickered my eyes at him. He is focused on the road.
"Why was he at your house, Rose?" He repeated, this time he sounded annoyed.
I shifted in my seat nervously, preparing myself to speak.
"He uh....we are working on our math project. He came over to work on it together." I said, lowering my gaze on my fiddling fingers.
I waited for some seconds to hear him say something, but there was nothing.
I looked at the window, letting out a sigh.
"You both plan to work on the project at your place?" He asked, breaking the silence again.
