Luo Qingci felt her heart sink into the abyss upon hearing this. What she feared had come to pass, and she couldn't help but blame Gu Zhi-Chao while feeling an impatient surge rise within her.
Yet, she was unable to refuse or show any hint of dissatisfaction, making the situation particularly unpleasant.
It was like knowing someone was handing her poison, yet she could only force a smile and swallow it.
As she and Jiang Yuebai walked out together, Luo Qingci could no longer maintain her composure. Her aura was heavy, and she walked straight outside.
Jiang Yuebai frowned and finally spoke, "Huai Zhu, don't you want Ruan Li to meet Master?"
Luo Qingci paused, glanced back at her, and said, "Why do you say that?"
"I see your expression isn't good. By the way, did Master say anything to you in private?" Jiang Yuebai had not intended to ask, but seeing Luo Qingci like this, she couldn't help but inquire.
Luo Qingci was silent for a moment before replying, "He only wanted to see if I had made any progress. Unfortunately, I disappointed him."
"Are you worried about what Master might do to Ruan Li?"
Jiang Yuebai's words made Luo Qingci stop in her tracks, with a look of disbelief. "Do you think Master would do something to her?"
Jiang Yuebai's gaze flickered. After a sigh, she said, "Master has high expectations for you and is quite strict. He seemed surprised by the fact that you've taken on a disciple. After hearing from Senior Brother, he might be even more curious. Ruan Li has exceptional talent and has had a bumpy path in her cultivation. Now she has just triggered the Dragon-Slaying Divine Tree and has even confronted a heart demon; it's not a good time for her to meet him."
Luo Qingci was surprised; she hadn't expected Jiang Yuebai to think of these things. She didn't know Jiang Yuebai saw things this way, seeming more genuine than Gu Zhi-Chao.
Recalling the things Jiang Yuebai had done for Ruan Li, Luo Qingci felt a hint of gratitude.
However, her current identity and situation didn't allow for much discussion with Jiang Yuebai, so she only said lightly, "It's a matter of time."
Jiang Yuebai considered that Ruan Li was not a Dragon, and though Master was somewhat frightening, he wouldn't actually harm her if she was prepared and didn't offend him.
But regarding the heart demon, Jiang Yuebai felt it necessary to remind Luo Qingci. "Huai Zhu, do you think Master's sudden awakening was triggered by the Dragon-Slaying Divine Tree?"
The question was a normal one, but Jiang Yuebai asked it cautiously, full of probing intent, which made Luo Qingci understand her true concern.
She glanced at the cautious and uncharacteristically humble Zi-Tan Xian-Jun, and couldn't help but raise the corners of her mouth slightly before suppressing it, walking straight ahead without looking sideways. "If you have something to say, just say it. I'm not Master."
Jiang Yuebai cleared her throat and lowered her voice. "What do you think Master might discuss with Senior Brother?"
Luo Qingci glanced at her. "Are you sure you want me to say?"
Jiang Yuebai immediately waved her hand. "Never mind, I already know."
At this crucial moment, only Gu Zhi-Chao remained, which meant it was something very important. Based on her understanding of her Senior Brother and Master, the topic was likely something they didn't want them to know. Thinking it over, it was probably about the heart demon. She felt a weight in her heart.
