When Qin Jian saw Luo Qingci, it was hard to tell whether he was pleased or displeased, to the point where he appeared quite awkward around her.
"Where is the Dragon Suppressing Tree?" Qin Jian paced back and forth in front of Luo Qingci's tent several times before finally lifting the curtain and entering, immediately asking about the Dragon Suppressing Tree.
At this moment, Luo Qingci was closing her eyes to rest. Hearing Qin Jian's question, she opened her eyes but did not answer directly. Instead, she asked, "What is the situation with the dragon race?"
When she arrived, Qin Jian and his group had just clashed with the dragons. A sudden attack by a group of dragons had caught them off guard, with dragon flames raining down and burning them. As a result, they were all covered in soot and many had been scorched.
Qin Jian, having faced repeated surprise attacks from the dragon race, was exhausted and irritable. He spoke solemnly, "The dragons that have turned into demon dragons have greatly increased in power, nearly all at the Nascent Soul stage, with several Azure Dragons at the Spirit Severing stage. Dragons are born with the ability to fly, and they appear without any sound. Besides a few Nascent Soul and minor-stage cultivators who can sense them in advance, the other disciples are completely unable to detect their presence."
Originally, the sap from the Dragon Suppressing Tree could deter the dragons. When it appeared, the Immortal Sect's specially crafted magical tools, like the Binding Dragon Ropes and Dragon Suppressing Claws, had been pre-soaked in the sap. Once they were used to ensnare a dragon, the sap would cause the dragon to surrender.
However, with the demonized dragons leading the charge, even if they were injured, their massive size and strength allowed them to quickly destroy these tools, causing them a great deal of trouble.
Although Qin Jian was strong, he couldn't withstand this kind of constant wear and tear.
"So you think that with the Dragon Suppressing Tree, you can solve your current predicament?" Luo Qingci had already reviewed the recent unexpected counterattacks by the dragons and their implications in detail during her journey.
Qin Jian's expression changed. He looked at Luo Qingci's even colder demeanor than before, and his mood worsened. He disliked Luo Qingci's indifferent attitude, as if she was detached from everything.
"I'm not in the mood for riddles with you. Speak plainly," Qin Jian, known for his fiery temper and straightforward nature, was irritated. His close relationship with Gu Zhichao, with whom he entered the sect around the same time, made him particularly resentful of Luo Qingci.
"Very well. So, where do you think these demonized dragons came from?" Luo Qingci, having been indifferent before, was even less concerned about his attitude now.
"It goes without saying, it must be remnants of the dragon race from before, trying to make a comeback by demonizing lower-ranked dragons to act as vanguards."
"That's right, but how does the dragon race manage to make these dragons both demonized and obedient, while also employing tactics against you?" Luo Qingci continued, her voice low, "The dragon race has been hunted down for over thirty years. Over these years, they've been hiding everywhere, and whenever they appear, they're attacked. In such circumstances, I doubt any dragon would want to continue living like this. They say never to pursue a desperate enemy. The Immortal Sect has driven the dragon race to this point; haven't you considered the worst possible outcome?"
Qin Jian wasn't foolish and immediately grasped what Luo Qingci was implying. He quickly retorted, "It's impossible. The demon race has been sealed, and the previous gaps have been fixed. The scattered demon race has been mostly eradicated."
