She suddenly turned to look at Fu Sheng, her brows slightly lowered, with a flicker of fire in her eyes.
This appearance of Ruan Li made Fu Sheng's heart tremble; he seemed to see the former Dragon King Xi Dan. The brows, the eyes, the stern expression when anger was suppressed—all were strikingly similar.
Although she did not show any overt hostility, her presence was still chilling.
Fu Sheng almost instinctively said, "Your Highness is correct. It was indeed lost by the Dragon Clan."
Fu Sheng's words were like throwing oil on a fire, causing another explosion of reaction.
"Lord Fu Sheng, why were we not aware of this?"
"Why was this not mentioned earlier?"
Fu Sheng sighed deeply. At this point, he could no longer hide the truth. He had to help Ruan Li and provide the Dragon Clan with the truth.
So he recounted everything that had happened back then in detail.
When it was revealed that the Dragon-Slaying Divine Wood came from the Dragon Abyss, everyone present reacted with disbelief, just like Ruan Li had. They were all in shock.
"That thing that almost led to the annihilation of our clan actually came from the Dragon Abyss?" One of the blue dragons felt like he had been struck by lightning. He stood up unsteadily and staggered a few steps toward Fu Sheng, his eyes bloodshot and his voice hoarse.
Fu Sheng closed his eyes, "Yes."
"Ridiculous, truly ridiculous. That sacred land of the Dragon Clan, which helps our kind reproduce, actually produced the root cause of our destruction." He laughed bitterly, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably.
Thinking of the decades of devastation he had endured—his family slaughtered, his wife killed, his child destroyed before birth—he felt unbearable pain.
Not just him, all dragons, when they dreamed in the dead of night and recalled their suffering, had cursed the Dragon-Slaying Divine Wood, wishing to destroy such a calamity in their dreams. Now, discovering that they were actually nurtured by it, was incredibly ironic and laughable.
The other dragons understood his feelings, and the hall was filled with sorrow and despondency.
Then, the current left guardian of the Dragon Clan, Chu Che, stood up and said through gritted teeth, "So, the source of all this is you, Princess Ruan Li." He emphasized the last four words with a bitterness that seemed to want to crush Ruan Li to express his hatred.
"If not for you, His Majesty would never have taken out that thing, leading to this calamity for the Dragon Clan. How dare you come back? How can you face us?"
Hearing these words, Ruan Li's body stiffened uncontrollably. She used all her strength to maintain a calm appearance, sneering coldly.
But only she knew that Chu Che's words had pierced her heart, crushing her inside. She felt the same way, but while she could feel guilt, she would not allow others to distort the truth.
She drew strength from the comforting words of Luo Qingci and pieced herself back together.
"Why should I be ashamed to come back? The words of the left guardian are truly ridiculous. I admit that the current disaster facing the Dragon Clan has its roots in me. But I ask you, is it my fault that I was born imperfect and unable to break out of my shell? Is it my fault that my father tried everything to hatch me? Given your understanding of him, if he knew the Dragon-Slaying Divine Wood would lead to the destruction of the Dragon Clan, would he have done so?"
