Luo Qingci had almost forgotten the existence of the Lord God.

Seeing the indistinct figure shrouded in a ball of white light, she felt momentarily disoriented. But after that brief moment of confusion, she became a little wary. "Why have you appeared again?"

The Lord God, hearing the wariness and disdain in her voice, paid no heed. His ethereal, distant voice carried the mysterious sanctity of a deity as he spoke.

"The Heavenly Demon Eye in Ruan Li's body has been removed, and her fate has been completely altered. The world has once again returned to peace. Your task is complete."

Luo Qingci's heart skipped a beat. "What about my promise? You already allowed me to return, you can't go back on your word now."

The Lord God was silent for a moment before he replied, "Everything in the world should be fair and just. Luo Qingci, you tried to defy fate, and paid a great price for it. You have already fulfilled the karmic debt as her reincarnation by working so hard to fulfill her wish. But since you have completed the mission, I won't be so harsh. I should grant you a wish."

Luo Qingci was taken aback. "A wish? What kind of wish?"

The Lord God's voice, distant and profound, echoed in her ears. "The wish I can grant you is already beyond my limits. You'll need it. You have two choices—I'll give you some time to think."

As soon as he finished speaking, the light surrounding the Lord God suddenly compressed, and Luo Qingci felt a blinding flash before she abruptly woke from her dream.

Luo Qingci snapped her eyes open, her breathing suddenly rapid.

Ruan Li, who had been sound asleep, hugging Luo Qingci, was startled awake by her sudden movement. She quickly tightened her hold and lifted her head anxiously. "Shizun, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Luo Qingci turned her gaze toward Ruan Li. The woman beside her, with her long hair loose and dressed in simple white undergarments, looked at her with such tenderness that it slowly calmed the panic Luo Qingci had felt upon waking.

Luo Qingci let out a long breath. "I saw the one who brought me here."

Ruan Li was confused for a moment, but once she understood, her face immediately changed.

"Why did he come? Is he trying to take you away?" Ruan Li flipped over and sat up, her face full of panic.

Seeing how pale Ruan Li had gotten from worry, Luo Qingci quickly reassured her, "A-Li, calm down. No, it's not that. You don't need to worry."

Then, she paused and looked down at her right hand. To her surprise, two jade plaques had appeared in her palm at some point.

Ruan Li looked as well, and Luo Qingci quickly recounted her dream in full detail to her.

Ruan Li broke into a cold sweat at the story but sighed in relief when it was over. Even so, she couldn't help the lingering fear and pulled Luo Qingci into her arms, whispering, "You scared me to death."

If that mysterious being had taken Luo Qingci away without her knowing, what could she possibly do?

Luo Qingci, her gaze soft, rubbed her cheek against Ruan Li's shoulder and patted her back. "Silly A-Li, he gave his word and wouldn't break it. He won't take me away, don't worry."

Ruan Li finally began to relax, and she picked up the two jade plaques in Luo Qingci's hand. "Is it two wishes you can choose from?"

Luo Qingci frowned slightly. "It seems so." She reached out to touch the plaques, and instantly two lines of golden text appeared in mid-air, swaying with the pulse of their spiritual energy.
