Author's note: New characters appearing in this chapter. Can anyone guess where they're from? Could they be an enemy, ally, rival, or something else?
Y/N's pov:
If it weren't for the lights being off and the low lighting of the movie, you would've stabbed out so many eyeballs already. Even though you both entered the theatre right when the lights turned off you could sense many were staring at the two of you. Trying to see if it was actually the popstar Evelynn Von Daemon and Crown Princess Y/N.
You feel a nudge on your shoulder. Looking to your left, you see Evelynn lifting an eyebrow as she eyes the whole theatre.
"We'll just use the shadows to leave," you whisper, handing her a candy box.
She rolls her eyes and accepts your peace offering before smiling again.
"You remembered." FUCK!!! You hit yourself mentally. "Thank you."
You shrug and force yourself to watch the idiot characters chain the mother who was having a mental breakdown to the staircase ramp. Every time you saw that scene you couldn't help but see humanity's stupidity. Who would chain someone to a staircase in a quarantined apartment complex that has a zombie outbreak?
But then again, who were you to judge? How could you blame the officer? One person panicking and not listening to reason could put everyone in danger. You yourself were in a similar situation. Except you were both- the officer and the panicking mother. The panicking mother because one tiny incident was becoming a global one- one that not even as a Queen could you prevent immediately and silently. You needed to do something, and Evelynn was the answer. A safe one? No. But a quick and silent one? Kind of.
As for the officer- you reasoned with yourself. To get Evelynn's help, you needed to play her game. You had to chain yourself. You know the cost, but it was worth it in the end.
And here you were with her, in a movie theater for the next 4 hours watching the REC horror series. As the characters do dumb things throughout the apartment complex while screaming and ignoring situational awareness, you felt your thoughts follow them. Rather than running from the zombies and trying to find a way out or trying to understand what the penthouse apartment was hiding about the virus, your mind wandered to what Arasaka was plotting, what your uncle the Earl was plotting, what role Dort played and was plotting. Who was Luarel's boss? What was their next move with Tyler, or was he just a red herring?
A heavy head bumps into your sinking mind. Glancing, you see Evelynn stifling her laugh at the scene of the infected boy cursing the priest who was interrogating him about the virus. It didn't take long for her to look up at you and offer a sour gummy.
Biting it out of her hand, she lifted her head from your shoulder.
"Thinking of the future's what-ifs will only cause more distractions from the present, Y/N," she whispers.
You laugh and shove a handful of popcorn into your mouth. Except you didn't find just butter and salt but sweet chocolate and Sour Patch Kids making out with your taste buds. Choking silently on the surprise, you smile. "Thought you said this was disgusting."
Evelynn rolls her eyes and shrugs. "Maybe I grew to like this odd combination. But pure souls are better."
You felt a sweat drop as her eyes shined brighter than the damn flashlights the characters used. "By the way... did you invite those two idiots to guard us?"
"Nope," you munch out through the mixed snack as you flicked an unpopped corn seed to your best friend/cousin who was two rows behind with Enid. "Maybe their on a date?"
