Author's note: Sorry for how slow I'm updating. My job has been draining every bit of energy I have, which gets in the way of editing and storyboarding. Chapter 111 will be coming out on Friday- I had a massive energy boost (thank you, Red Bull lol).
Wednesday's pov:
The old tunnel timed the seconds it was taking you to scout the tunnel for any spies or wiring with each water drop that trickled down. Sitting on a dusty and moist track cart she allowed her thoughts to swirl around her mind like the dust her flashlight captured in its gaze. Too many things had been revealed in the last 7 hours. All suffocating and threatening to bury you both alive.
"Coast clear." You lean against the cart and light a cigarette. "Hope you're comfortable cause we got a lot of shit to dig through. First things first, did she realize?"
"Concerning enough no. For a lycian she's quite weak in her sense of taste. Meaning we may need to check her food for poison," Wednesday says as she glares at the cigarette. The smell has always irritated her since she was a child. An irritation that made her want to pull out her nerves to sew her nose shut. Yet she still had yet to do so cause being uncomfortable made her feel comfortable.
You nod as you let out a puff of smoke. She could see your mind being clouded by scenarios and solutions. "When we changed the future in the past- tried to- did the same result happen but in a different manner? Because your vision showed a head injury, no?"
Wait.... Wednesday rumbaged through her memories. When she tried to save Rowan from Tyler she only led him to his death. When she tried to save Eugene she put a target on his head. And when she tried to avoid Crackstone's attack all she got was a broken relationship and agony. Every vision of the future always came true one way or another. The weight of this reality was crushing her shoulders.
"It would seem that way," she says slowly and softly as if the darkness of the tunnel would drag her down and make it true.
"Seems. Not is. We haven't had the privilege of testing it." The glance you give her made her shoulders feel drastically lighter. "I'll have someone test the food till this is all resolved."
"Since we're on the topic, are there other family members you can ask about your vision type?" Lord how she wanted to kiss you! You respected and remembered details about her so well.
Scanning through her memory on who in the Frump side was a raven, she came to realize they were practically instinct. Only her and her grandmother were Ravens. And of course her missing aunt Ophelia. Nudging her leg you ask if she was fine.
"I could reach out to my grandmother. But I imagine your witch friend could also be of service." You agree and take another hit of your deadly coping mechanism. The cinders barely breath.
"Good. Now Arasaka and Enid. What would they want an alpha for? You can't tame one." I already tried, she thinks as she eyes you.
Pulling out documents from your backpack you show her everything you had on the company. From the human experimentations to make super human computers to their past attempts in bio warfare. Each piece of information made her think about the urban horror tales about Willows Hill being a secret lab. Didn't help that the latest information from Galpin hinted towards the institution.
"Residents Evil type of shit," you mutter as you highlight certain details as you refer to the rumors. Luckily Gloria and others had infiltrated the institution as employees. Seems that the rumors there were even louder within the staff. Tyler's arrival only made them loud enough to scratch the paint off the walls.
Rolling her eyes she pulls out her evidence. "Thing got these. Letters and emails Arasaka sent my father."
Just as she had told you, they asked her father to join their team through begging, bribes, and promises to help him gain whatever he desired. The way they sewed their words together it was clear they were referring to his lack of power. How did they know? She had no clue but clearly you were confused.
