Author's note: HAPPY SPOOKY SEASON GANG! I have major news- life has chilled out, and now I have more time to write at least for an hour or so every day! Meaning I can go back to posting more often like I did back in 2023 and 2024 when this fic came out- aka like when I was in college. I HATE ADULTING! So expect a new chapter every Wednesday from now on! Also, an update is coming for my other fics "Till Murder Do Us Apart" and "The Stolen Empress!"
Also, not sure if y'all saw, but the official Wednesday Instagram posted that season 3 has wrapped up production! I AM READY!! BUT ALSO NEED TO LOCK IN WITH THIS FIC CAUSE FUUUUUUCK THERE'S TOO MANY THINGS I NEED TO WRITE ABOUT!
Wednesday's pov:
(hours during your date with Evelynn)
Glancing at the car's clock, Wednesday felt her anger digging her alive. Stealing any ounce of air from reaching her brain and heart. Right now you were with Evelynn thanks to her.
With the latest information she had obtained from Agnes' mother about House Y/M/L/N, there was no doubt that Evelynn's determination to have you by her side may have come from an ancient contract between the royal Vampiric family and Hell to ensure your grandfather's victory in the civil war against his half-human bastard brother.
But why would he do such a thing? He had more than half of the court on his side. Even the smaller parts that were against him focused their forces on Alucard and humanity rather than his. There were even moments they literally worked together to attack Alucard. Wednesday thinks as she recalls the history books she read about the war. Could it be that Nightrey was scared that he would lose due to hunters aiding Alucard?
Wednesday crumpled her notes, destroying that stupid thought. It was the father of your father she was thinking about. The man who raised the current man who was not only a headache to deal with but a time bomb waiting to blow at the smallest nick. A bomb whose explosive chemicals ran through your body that would eventually make you become something much worse than any of your ancestors. There had to be more! Because why would King Nightrey be clear about that but lie about everything else? If she had learned anything about history- especially family history, thanks to her parents is that nothing was ever 100% truthful in any story shared by the fireplace or the dining table.
What else is there? Or could it be you simply wanted to make him appear as the villain to make your claim easier? Through the folded and creased paper that now looked like a deformed rose in bloom, she saw the word 'Monster Hunter.'
Feeling the wheels convulse over the loose gravel of her Uncle It's manor, she saw her long-haired uncle with his normie fiancée waiting at the door. The yellow light through the open front door and the lanterns around them warmed her even in the dark, cold vehicle. Was he close to establishing true peace between Humans and Vampires?
After exchanging welcomes and sharing a meal full of too much romance, Wednesday found herself once again staring at the notes and document copies from the conversation. Wondering where else there could be hidden information.
The tapping of rain tried to throw her off, along with the sound of beating bat wings that flew past her window. Seeing that the anger rooted in her had left no breathing hole for her mind or heart she headed out to the bedroom's balcony.
The Victorian balcony looked straight into the gloomy, tight forest of uptown New York. It swallowed whatever little light her uncle's house set free into the wilderness. The bats danced around her as if they were trying to get gossip about her tragic love life rather than give her any information. The rain didn't help; the longer she stayed it the longer it sounded like those fake laughs 80s sitcoms would play during a terrible, predictable joke.
