Komi waited, her back hunch over as she stared out over the fake factory-like landscape below. She had ran off from Shoto, angered by his words. And in her anger, she had stolen a point from him without even saying a word.
If she had opened her mouth, she would've bitten him. And Komi wasn't sure if she'd feel sorry about it.
Of all people in the world, the last to tell Komi she was unwanted would have been Shoto. It should have been him. Not from the day that the noirette meet the dual haired boy, she'd never of thought he'd do that. And yet, here she stands.
She had one point already, so all she has to do is wait for another. And if she just avoided conversations, then maybe the feeling and the urge to sink her teeth into something would finally go away.
Her eyes had been clouded over a moment ago, and although things were still blurry, she could see. She can see what she needs to do and what she has to do in order to make that run as smooth as possible.
Strategically thinking, Komi should've stayed with the class. The strength in numbers rule still applies, and Komi knew she could trust the class not to be full of greed and use her targets or anyone else's to get through. So, strategically thinking, staying with them would've been the better option for her. But, considering the very, very likely fact that every school was out to get UA first, then maybe it wasn't the best choice.
Either way, Komi had laid down her options and chose. She went off with Shoto and ended up alone.
She already had a point, so it was very likely that she could pass soon enough. All she needed was a few people to sneak up on.
There had been a large group of people that Komi had passed, however, they'd be too much of a hassle and Komi wasn't perfect, she makes mistakes and in a high stakes task, she tends to slip up a little more.
What she needs is a low group of people -maybe 6 or 7 at the max. If she can find one, then perfect, but there probably isn't anyone as dumb as she is out here all alone.
Well, no one alone aside from her brother.
When Shoto watched Komi walk away after stealing the point he clearly called for, he knew he messed up. He knew he messed up when he decided to open to mouth to say something, but it needed to be said, and he didn't know how else to say it then. Now, of course, he could think of a million ways to word what he said differently.
But instead, he watched his sister walked away. He watched her walk away after telling her that they weren't siblings. There had never been a bigger lie in his life, but he needed Komi to walk away.
He had to prove to himself that he is capable without Komi by his side, because she isn't always going to be there. He knows he needs to learn how to live by himself, and he never knew that sooner then when she came back from Camino; blind.
That day, he learned that Komi was just as human as he was, and it didn't matter how strong she was with her mental game or how tough she can appear to be, she can still be blind.
Shoto had to learn how to live with himself, by himself. He couldn't have Komi by his side all the time, otherwise he's going to get far too used to it. And as mean and cruel as it was done, what other way was Shoto meant to do it. It wasn't like he was raised with any good intentions by his side. It wasn't like he was ever let off the hook easy. It was meaner, and crueler. But, it was the only way Shoto knew how to get the message across at the time.
But Shoto knew that Komi needed it as well. While he's gotten the gist of not staying by her side, Komi is yet to learn that Endeavour isn't here 24/7. She doesn't have to listen to him, when things are up to her choice. She would've thrived with the class as a whole group. Shoto knows that, but instead she ran off with Shoto -just like how his old man would've told her too.
As a kid, Shoto knew he didn't have it easy, but it wasn't like Komi did either. She never had a family to begin with, and for a good while, the people she shared a house with couldn't bring themselves to look at her without feeling freaked out.
