It wasn't until a few days after Komi's borrowed suitcase burnt that she was able to call Endeavour. She had been prolonging it, but at this point, if she waited any longer she was just never going to be able to tell him what happened. And in Komi's mind, that was worse.
So, by the time Komi had finished shopping around for brand new stuff, Komi rang Endeavour up and told him what happened.
She was scared to. Honestly, she wasn't sure how Endeavour would take it or how he would react.
After all, just how would one respond to knowing that one of the last physical object that belonged to your late son had burnt away? Right after you entrusted it to a child you took 13 years to like?
"...And I'm sorry, again." Komi said after she went on her rant. She was waiting outside the balcony doors, with Jiro and the three boys from next door waiting inside as well. Shoto wanted to come along, and Jiro thought she was smart when she invited Bakugo over as well, which ultimately led to Midoriya tagging along as well.
Endeavour was silent on the other side of the phone call. He was in the car, mostly likely driving home now due to the time zones.
Komi wasn't really used to Endeavour's pausing before answering. Usually, he would say the very first thing that came to mind for him and Komi would have to deal with it.
"So someone had broken into your room? What have the teachers done to investigate that?" Endeavour said...
Hang on, he wasn't mad?... huh?
"Um..." Komi glanced back to her room, making eye contact with Shoto through the glass doors. She then looked back to the city scope around her. "Well, they alerted the authorities and for a while a language barrier kinda got in the way, but me and Shoto were able to translate, but rhe police said they couldn't find any signs of a break-in, and my room mate was with me the entire time."
"I see..." Endeavour was probably nodding his head, thinking of all the ways he could've countered what has happened and caught the culprit. "Is that all?"
Oh...oh no, how the actual hell did he know??
The tone in his voice was clear enough that he didn't believe what Komi was telling him. And at least, what she has said, was the truth, she just let out the part where she knew who broke in and covered up the evidence.
"Uh huh...listen, I've got to go, but if anything more happens, I'll be sure to call you-" Komi was seconds from hanging up the phone, but Endeavour beat her to talking before she could press the red button.
"Komi." He started, silencing the noirette from where she stood. "What are you not telling me."
Damnit, he knew. How did he know....
He was the number one hero, what is Komi confused about, like.
"...I have everything sorted." Komi felt like an anti-hero from a movie that would end up needing a sequel to understand the plot. Then a crappy third movie that's all about fan service and then a perfect fourth movie that fixed everything, then 20 years later it would get a 5th about her backstories or something like that.
"....I'll call you if anything happens, I promise." And Komi yanked the phone away from her hand and pressed the red button, sighed and glanced at another building that had some lights on in the rooms. It was reasonably late, and dinner was a good few hours ago, so there were very few people up right now. Still, Komi then turned and walked back into her room, only to be greeted by Jiro.
Jiro was probably someone who didn't know a whole lot about much going on right now. Meaning, the whole Todoroki family issue that Komi had been roped into at a far too young of age. Bakugo and his big ears and nose knew enough, and of course Midoriya had some idea after what Shoto said to him at the festival all those months ago.
