10:43am, the very next day.
Everyone knows the feeling of waking up to a dry and scratchy throat. That small sense of dread that kicks in when water will not do the trick to soothe the throat. Like a Sahara dessert blowing winds as harsh as anything and the hot sun blistering down on the sand. At least, that what it felt like when Komi knew she was awake.
Her throat would be giving her hell for the next few hours, but that wasn't exactly her main concern. There was an itch in her arm and when opened her eyes, she couldn't mistake the view of the dull and boring hospital scene. There was light seeping through the window, and the view of dust suspended in mid air as Komi blinked a few times, needing a moment to adjust.
Then, as her hearing came back in full, Komi glanced just over her shoulder where Bakugo was playing some game on his phone, a look of utter blankness on his face. Komi looked at him for a little while more, then turned her head back to the ceiling.
"Did I really get shot?" And it hurt like a bitch too. -The gunshot and speaking, she needed some water ASAP.
Bakugo leapt to life, almost throwing his phone down as he whipped his head up at Komi and pushed off the chair to stand a little closer to her.
"About fucking time you woke up!" He started. "The hell you get shot for?!"
Komi furrows her eyebrows. "It was either you or me! I'm not just gonna stand by and let you get sho-"
Then a coughing fit prevented her from laying it out on Bakugo. Covered her mouth with her elbow because she doesn't do germs like that, Komi felt each and every cough over all then sensitivity of her throat.
Bakugo leaned back for a moment and passed over the glass of water on the bedside table, then sat back down in his seat- of course, after pulling it closer to her. Komi took the water with pleasure and sipped the first few bits but then downed the rest of it like a shot.
"Thank you." She said as she patted the water from her eyes. She wasn't crying, rather the intensity of the coughing made her eyes water for some reason. Her hand then goes under the thin sheet of the hospital bed and feels the bandage over her wound. "...Ow."
"Yeah, no shit." Bakugo scoffed as he plops back down in his chair. "Icy-Hot's just getting food, the fatass."
Komi smiles a-
"What."
Bakugo looked up, seeing Komi's dead serious face that was rid of any and all emotions. He froze himself, confused on what he had said to make her all face and no smiles. But Komi had heard him, she was so sure she had. Bakugo had said 'Icy-Hot'. He said it. He did. Komi would die on that hill that he did.
"Shoto's alive?" Her voice never once wavered or broke. There was too much hope in her lungs for that now.
Bakugo's face then shifted. Like he just said something that wasn't meant to be said yet. He stood up, pointing at Komi. "The fucking doctor said not to move-"
Fucking sure he did.
Komi kicked back the covers of the bed and pushed herself up. The ash blond made an attempt to stop her, but even if Komi didn't have the quirk she had, there would've been no way the he could keep her in the room.
Her side hurt nearly instantly, but that wasn't enough to stop her. Pushing the door opening and breaking the thing as she left, Komi used the railings on the side of the walls, using them to help her walk as Bakugo ran out of the room, stepping over the fallen door and running up to Komi, trying to stop her.
"You broke your fucking stitches!" He yelled, grabbing her, but the girl kept walking. "Webs, your gonna bleed out all over the hospital."
"Is he alive?" Komi moved past Bakugo's small worry.
