I had the worst Christmas ever.
Usually this was the routine every year,
May and I would wake up super early and exchange gifts. Then Kiki would race into our room and we would follow her as she bounded excitedly into Mom and Dad's room. Kiki would lead the way into the living room to see if Santa Claus had been.
Calum would always be up even earlier than May and I which was a miracle because usually he doesn't get out of bed until one in the afternoon. He only got up early to set up the decorations for the Christmas party we had every year with our family. He loved doing that alone.
After all the gifts were exchanged Calum made breakfast another surprise as he hates making food although he's actually quite talented in that way. Kiki played happily with her new toys and May and I would mess with our presents as Calum took up the kitchen. He always made something different. He chose a country and made a dish from there. My favourite was the tapas from Spain. That was amazing!
We would then all help clear up and get ready for the day. We would then go to mass and when we came back we had two hours after that to mess with our gifts before our family stared arriving. Calum would be in the kitchen making the dinner.
When all our family had arrived we would play games and eat dinner. Then exchange presents. Kiki would always be impatient for that one and would gulp her dinner down as quickly as she could.
Our family would afterwards go home and we would all clear up again and we'd have a Family Movie MM Night. MM stands for Mini Marathon. It wasn't really a movie marathon we just called it that. We would all go into pairs. Mom and Dad, Calum and Kiki, May and I. We would then select a movie in our pairs. All of us had to sit together and watch those three movies eating some treats Calum cooked up. I really loved Christmas.
However this year was very different,
I woke up at seven and opened my mouth to call May before I realised she was gone. It also sucked that I had my arm in a cast for Christmas. An hour later Kiki bounded in excitedly and led the way to Mom and Dad's room. When Kiki woke them up they groaned and told us to go back to bed. So I went into Kiki's room and gave her a present. It was a pretty rag doll with brown wool for hair and two stitches for eyes. She loved it. Then we played for a bit.
At nine we went back into Mom and Dad's room. They smiled this time and were about to give us hugs when Amelia started crying. They fled into her room. After half an hour we finally got downstairs.
Calum had set the place up a bit even though we had no family to visit us. We all then exchanged presents and he made breakfast.
Afterwards we got dressed and went to mass. When we came home Kiki and I had a party ourselves while Mom and Dad watched TV and Calum went up to his room to FaceTime someone. After that things got intense.
A simple conversation turned into a yelling match between all of us except Kiki who sat watching us crying her eyes out. And of course Amelia. The shouting went on for a whole hour and we all stopped talking to each other. Calum still made dinner but Amelia refused to stop crying so they took her out on a walk. They never came back for dinner. We were all incredibly worried and Calum was just going to phone the police when they came back in laughing together. They had gone to eat out. This led to further arguments.
At eight Kiki walked up to Mom and Dad and asked if we could have a Family Movie MM Night. They just yelled at her while Amelia cried. This led to even further arguments. So Calum, Kiki and I all had a proper movie marathon. Kiki fell asleep and so did Calum. I didn't.
I walked into my room and plopped on my bed. I then let all the tears held inside me escape. I watched more movies while crying my eyes out until I ended up crying myself to sleep.
Not exactly my ideal Christmas.
