I got ready for school the next morning. Calum wasn't going to collage and I found him asleep on the couch with his arm around Annabelle. I just ignored them and got ready. Kiki was sound asleep so I decided to give her a day off school.
When I brushed my teeth I gasped at my bruises in the mirror. They looked worse than yesterday. They were a horrible black and blue colour. I sighed and walked off.
I was all ready to go but I couldn't drive and school was too far away to walk to. I went down stairs and lightly tapped Calum on the shoulder. He still had his arm around Annabelle.
"Calum?" I whispered.
He didn't respond. I tried again.
"Calum?"
This time he just moved closer to Annabelle. I sighed and knew it was no use. Even if I did wake him up he wouldn't be able to drive me to school. I stood there trying to think of a solution because I really needed to be at school with our exams approaching. Suddenly and idea popped into my head. I grabbed my phone and rang August.
"Hello July?"
"Hi August."
"What's up?"
"Um..my parents are gone into hospital with Amelia."
"Oh no, is Calum there?"
"Yeah, he's actually on the couch asleep with Annabelle and I doubt he'll wake up anytime soon or be able to drive me to school."
"So I'm guessing you want a drive?"
"If you haven't passed my house already then yes please."
"Okay, I'm just leaving my house now, I'll be there right away."
"Thank you."
"No problem," he said before I hung up.About ten minutes later the doorbell rang. Neither Calum nor Annabelle woke up. I grabbed my school bag and walked over to the front door. I unlocked it and saw August beaming up at me. He gasped when he saw the bruises.
"They clocked you bad," he exclaimed.
"Yeah, but I'm fine, come on," I smiled. We arrived at school pretty early. Summer was waiting by the lockers. She smiled when she saw us but gasped in horror at my face.
"July, what an earth happened to you?"
"Oh nothing much," I sighed.
August rolled his eyes.
"Tell her or I will."
"I know I was going to," I grunted.
"Come on," Summer urged.
I sighed again and told her the story.
"This is going too far!" Summer frowned, when I finished.
"Thats what I said, but she's not having any of it," August sighed.
"Can we please drop it?" I asked.
"Fine," both Summer and August said in unison.
"Okay so how was the dinner on Friday?" Summer asked.
"Great, they like August," I smiled.
"That's great news," Summer said.August walked off after that and I caught up with Summer properly. We sorted out to meet up after school on Wednesday at Starbucks. It was way overdue because as much as I love August I miss my chats with Summer.
