By the end of the day we had no luck again. August stayed over. He was going to sleep on the couch. I had another conversation with Summer over the phone that night. She tried her best to cheer me up but it didn't work.
August asked if I wanted to watch a movie before we went to bed. I agreed and sat with him. Tears slipped from my eyes and after the first half an hour I drifted off to sleep. I had another horrible dream about finding Kiki dead on the middle of the road. I was crying when I woke up. August wiped my tears away and tried to cheer me up. After ten minutes, Calum and Annabelle padded down the stairs.
"You guys fell asleep again?" Calum smirked.
I rubbed my eyes.
"Yeah, but come on we have a day of searching ahead of us," I said, jumping up.We spend all that day looking. We were on the news but still Kiki wasn't anywhere to be found. At twelve o'clock that night I went home. August came in with me.
"I miss her," I cried.
"We will find her."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because you give me hope," he smiled.
More tears fell.
"I'm not going to school tomorrow," I cried.
"Neither am I," he said taking my hand.
"Thank you August," I smiled.
"No problem," he said, gently.
"August, what if she's gone?" I wept.
August held up my chin.
"She isn't," he said.
I stared into his eyes with tears filling mine. He placed his hands on my waist and brought me closer to himself. I put my arms around his neck, closing the gap between our bodies. His lips pressed against mine and for a minute everything seemed right in the world.Calum came in moments later with Annabelle. His eyes were red from crying. He had his hand laced through Annabelle's. He blushed bright red when he saw us. Calum was not one to cry in public. He rubbed his eyes and looked down. I gave him a hug. We both knew what it was like to loose a sibling and we never wanted to go through that again.
Annabelle gave him a hug after while August gave me one. And then more tears fell from my eyes. Annabelle wrapped her arms around Calum and August wrapped his arms around me.
