Had Left

August came right away.
"JULY?" he called, the minute Calum opened the door.
He raced into the sitting room and took my hand.
"July, calm down, I'm here now," he said.
"July, think about that day on the beach, think about Roxanne's face when we caught her out, think about how much I love you," August said, gently.
My breathing slowed down a little. Not much but still a bit.
"I...I.."
"July, what's your happiest childhood memory?" August asked.
I thought about our family trip to the zoo five years ago. I remembered May saying a whole load of facts about each animal and reading the plaques from each habitat. I remembered Kiki being so excited. I lifted her up and we named all the animals ourselves. Then Calum joined in and finally May stopped saying a bunch of facts and joined in too. Our parents laughed but they also joined in. After a while May suggested that we play eye spy. We had a great time playing that and then we had lunch. After lunch it started raining. We were all disappointed except May. She took my hand and started dancing in the rain, singing on the top of her lungs. She got everyone to do it too. Everyone stared but we didn't care. The rain began to fall too heavy so we went back to the car. Before we all dived in, Kiki asked for a family hug. We all went in for a group hug and shared one more dance in the rain. We then laughed and collapsed onto the seats before going home and having a Family MM Movie Night. It was an amazing day. No one was stressed and no one was angry. No one was sad and no one was alone. We were one happy family.
"Our family trip to the zoo five years ago," I croaked.
"Cool, tell me about it."
I told him all about it.
"That's awesome!" He laughed.
My breathing slowed right down.
"Now what's your happiest memory this year?"
I thought about our special date to the restaurant and beach. I remembered the lovely place restaurant. The romance of it, the magical feeling it and the sea that could be viewed through the window. I remembered the kind woman who showed us to our seats. I remember her switching our candle holder so that August could kiss me. I remember walking out to the beach together, the waves crashing calmly but still wildly. I remember snuggling into August and kissing him. I remember coming back home and watching a movie with him. I remembered August and I sharing one more kiss before he left.
"That special date at the restaurant and the beach," I whispered.
"Go on," he smiled.
I told him my thinking. He smiled. I then realised that my breathing was back to normal.
"Thank you August," I smiled.
"Anything for you."
I was aware that Calum and Annabelle were still hovering in the room uncertainly but I didn't care. I leaned over and met August's lips. Any remaining anxiety was swept away in our kiss. My panic had left.
