Garden

The next Saturday we met up at my place to search for June.
"Did you get anything out of your Dad?"
"Nope, he just dismissed it and told me it was a different woman," he sighed.
"Okay, so it's up to us," I said, smiling.

We drove straight to United Heights. We spend over two hours knocking on all the door with no luck.
"Where else could it be?" August cried.
"It's a single house remember?" I said.
Suddenly I remembered something, I knew where the house was.
"August! I know where that is!" I exclaimed.
"July, there are no single houses in United Heights, that's was the whole idea when it was built. All the houses were supposed to be detached with at least one other house," August said.
"But..."
"Unless it wasn't in United Heights?" He said, thoughtfully.
August sighed. "But it did say United Heights."
"No I do know where it is," I exclaimed.
I remembered Annabelle telling me a story she knew ages ago when the two of us were alone at my house. She said that United Heights was built ages ago for two brothers. They owned all the land in and around United Heights. They were fighting and divided their land in half. They forbade anybody to pass the borders. The people got fed up and built United Heights in hope of uniting both lands. The brothers eventually made up after that until one brother lost his wife and blamed the other brother. He then built an old house in the area where he dwelled on his own, missing his wife everyday. He called it Single House.
Everything crumbled down except the houses which were now fixed up and more were added turning it into an estate. All this area was actually incredibly populated.

Single House had been lost since the brother had died, as no one knew where he had built his house. Annabelle said it was just a legend but many believed it was true.

"August I think I know where your Mom is."
I told him the legend.
"Yeah I've heard it but that house got destroyed," August sighed.
"We could look for it?"
"Look July, it's getting late that house is gone, my mother is gone, I was stupid to think otherwise, stop getting my hopes up!" August snapped.
"Give me five minutes," I pleaded.
"Fine," he sighed, glaring at me.

I walked around the estate on my own. I remembered the feeling when May died. I wanted to curl up and die at the time. I wanted to live away from everyone. I tried to think of a place I would have build my house at the time. I kept walking until I saw less and less houses. I eventually found myself standing in a green area with no houses in sight that reminded me of a large, overgrown garden. Then I realised it was a large, overgrown garden.
