I went with August to collect his Mom at two. She wore a lovely, stripped top with a navy jacket that matched beautifully. She wore a pair of plain jeans and black high heeled shoes. Her hair was let down loosely and she'd done well with her make up. She wore a pair of white, oval sunglasses on her head and she carried a black handbag as well. She was very pale however and didn't talk the whole way to August's house.
August got out of the car first. He told me to wait with June outside the front door. He wandered in. I have no idea what he said to his father but August eventually opened the door and beckoned June inside. June bit her lip and walked in. I stayed where I was. August slipped out and stood next to me. He looked incredibly worried.
"What if this doesn't work?" He asked.
"It will."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because you give me hope and I'll never let you move to Australia."
"Good answer," he smiled.
I took his hand as we waited. After ten minutes August began to grow restless.
"What if this doesn't work? Oh July! what was I thinking? What if I have to move?"
This went on until I gazed into his eyes and whispered.
"August?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up," I smiled.
I leaned over and kissed him. He kissed me back. I put my arms around his neck and he ran his fingers through my hair before grabbing my waist tightly. I felt myself be pushed backwards until my back hit off the wall.
The kiss was perfect. He used just the right amount of tongue. Neither of us heard the door opening. We didn't realise they were there until August's Dad coughed. We quickly broke apart, blushing bright red, realising we'd just made out right in front of them."Dad, please don't make me move," August cried, stepping away so I could remove my back from the wall. I just moved away with my face still bright red.
"Why would I do that when I have a great job, a fab house, a happy life, you, obviously hitting it off with your girlfriend and my wife, who has finally admitted her mistake and come back to me. Name one reason why I should leave."
"You mean, you and Mom made up?"
August's Dad kissed June as if to answer August's last question. We didn't know what they said to each other in there but quite frankly, I don't think August cared. He was getting his Mom back. That was the best news he could ever hope for.
