"Well what is there to explain? I was told when I was twelve that you had died in hospital from a heart attack. I wasn't allowed to attend your funeral and two months later we moved from that house in Brighton to London. We lived there for one year and then moved to America. We've lived in our house since," August said.
"Oh, you lived in London for a bit?" I said.
"Yeah."
"That's where I used to live before...." I trailed off.
August took my hand. June smiled.
"Well you explained where you've lived for the past while, now explain how you guys met and stuff," June grinned.
August laughed.
"When I was sixteen and a half I started dating this girl named Roxanne. Our relationship lasted longer than I wanted it to. I tried to break up with her six months after we'd started dating. She blackmailed me into staying with her. That worked right up until I met July," he smiled.
"Are you about to tell her about our first kiss?" I giggled.
"If you don't mind."
"Go ahead," I laughed.
June smirked and pretended to be sick. We all laughed.
"Well July had an argument with this other girl. I found her racing out of the bathrooms crying. I told the office she was sick and got her sent home. I got July's address off Roxanne, as they were best friends at the time and came to check on her after school. We were talking and then we kissed."
"Oh my gosh, so cute," June gushed.
"Anyways, I helped her out through a tough time she was going through and when we kissed again it was caught on camera and I was blackmailed into ignoring July. Then in the middle of February, Summer, the girl July had that argument with, who is actually now our best friend, came up to me and told me about July going through depression so I went and visited her. I told her about the blackmailing and she came up with an idea to deal with Roxanne. It worked and I asked her to be my girlfriend, and well, we've been dating since," August said, giving me a light kiss on the cheek as if to prove it.
"Is that bully taken care of?" June asked.
"Yeah," August smiled.
"That's a very cute story," June smiled.
We both blushed."And well done finding this house by the way July," June said.
"Oh it was nothing."
"How did you know it was here?"
"Oh I found the note you wrote for my sister, you had your address on it."
"Kiki Summer?" She blinked.
"Yeah," I mumbled.
"How is she doing?" June smiled.
Tears began to develop in my eyes.
"She's...shes..she's in a coma."
"WHAT?"
"I was hoping you could fill us in on what happened?"
"What happened? Well I found her asleep in the garden on a Saturday night. I brought her in and she told me how her parents had pinkie promised and not shown up to her show and how none of her family loved her. She said that she accidentally hit off some of the set trying to spot her parents in the audience. Unfortunately the whole thing toppled and she was given out to. No one believed it was accident so the poor child ruined it more, just because she didn't see the point of being good if she was constantly shown up for it. She yelled at everyone and was then expelled. Her parents on the phone told her that they didn't want her. They said she was going to an orphanage. They told her that no one loved the dear child. So she ran away. I fed her and looked after her for three days and then she told me that she had to go. She said she didn't want to be a burden on me any longer. I didn't want her to go but she told me she was going to family she knew close by. I refused to leave her go at first because she's what eight? But she told me to drop her at her aunt's house so I gave her food, money, water and my details before dropping her to her aunt's house."
"Her aunt's house? Where? We have no relatives in America!"
"What? It was an estate by the airport. I watched her run inside the house. A woman waved to me from the doorway."
"But.."
"That's all I know dear."
"By the airport?"
June nodded. Then it clicked.
"Oh no! That's not our aunt. That's Kiki's only friend from school, Millie. That must have been her mother and she must have thought that you were Kiki's mother and were dropping her to a play date!" I cried in despair.
Kiki was pretty smart for an eight year old.
"Oh my gosh!" June cried.
"She must have been trying to get back to England, back to our home and full family!"
Tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn't believe how horrible my parents had been. I couldn't believe that I might loose Kiki.
August opened his arms. I ran into them, crying into his shirt. He stroked my hair and kissed my forehead.A while later we were all chatting finishing our cups of tea. That's when August noticed the time and sighed.
"Mom we have to go."
"Alright, it was great seeing you both."
We walked towards the door. August stopped in his tracks.
"Mom you are going to talk to Dad now right?" August said.
"I'm not sure."
"Mom he missed you, he talked about you a lot and I've seen him kiss your picture even recently. I won't let him take me to Australia, you need to talk to him," August said.
June nodded.
"Your right," she sighed.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow at two," August said.
"Okay, thank you Auggie," she smiled.
"Well I better be going," August said.
"Bye sweetie, and goodbye July," June said.
We both said goodbye and August gave his mother another hug. We left the house and walked back to the car. He went inside my house with me. It was only Calum home."July will you come back to my place for a while please?" August asked.
"I'll just check with Calum but I think that will be fine," I smiled.
"Okay, thanks.""CALUM!" I called.
He walked into the room. His jet, black hair was a mess and his green eyes looked full of sorrow. He still smiled though. But I knew he was missing Annabelle and worried about their future. Not to mention everything going on with Kiki at the moment.
"Yeah?"
"Is it all right if I go back to August's for a while?"
"Yeah of course."
"Thank you," I beamed giving him a hug.
We walked out and then Calum called me back.
"Not too much kissing please guys," he smirked.
"Calum," I sighed.
He just laughed, and as much as I hate those jokes he makes, it was great to hear him laughing and see him lighten up a bit.A/N
