As We Kissed

I opened my eyes and could immediately feel a sharp pain on my head and another sore pain son my face. Calum was looking at me worriedly. I was still in my bedroom.

"July, are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
"This is appalling, I can't leave for London next week," he sighed.
"Calum you spend a year suffering for it, you can't give it up. As long as you visit regularly everything will be fine!" I assured him.
"But Mom and Dad are out of control."
"I can manage."
Even though I had just been knocked unconscious, I ended up spending half an hour convincing Calum to go to London. As much as I wanted him to stay I couldn't make him miss all his effort and hard work. I eventually convinced him to go. I knew it was the right decision.

I didn't go to school that day. At five o'clock I rang August.
"Hello July, why weren't you at school?"
"Hey, um...lets just say it was possibly one of the worst nights I've had in weeks," I sighed.
"What happened?"
"Well for starters my baby sister died..." My voice squeaked.
"Oh July, I'm so sorry!" August exclaimed.
"Um...can you just come up and I'll explain the rest but......uh....could I go to your place please?" My voice still quivered.
"Of course, I'll come and pick you up."
"Thank you," I said, hanging up.

I didn't want him to come in so the minute I saw his car I ran out to him. He gasped at my face.
"July! What happened? I thought your Dad had stopped abusing you!"
"I'll explain later."
I got in and we drove in silence to his house. We then went into his bedroom and I told him about the terrible night.

"July, that's horrible!" He cried.
Tears began to fall from my glassy, green eyes. He wiped away my tears. He then began planting kisses up my neck. They were all so light and gentle. He reached my lips and paused. I could feel my heart rapidly beating as I gazed into his chocolate, brown eyes. Eventually his lips touched mine and we were kissing. All the horrors of the night disappeared as we kissed.
