My parents didn't do a lot to help at school. They just got August and I out of detention. That was it. They didn't complain about Carmen or try and at least stop the bullying a little bit. Just typical of them.
I still had my cast on when I went back to school. I wasn't going to get it off for another four weeks which really dampened my mood. I couldn't write which was a good and bad thing and I found a lot of tasks really difficult.
At lunch when I went to my locker I saw something had been slid through the slit in the top of my locker. It fell to the ground the minute my locker door opened. When I looked down I saw there were two things. One was a CD case with a note tapped to it saying 'READ AT HOME' and the other thing was just a piece of folded paper.
I put the CD into my bag and opened the piece of paper. It was a note and it said.
Dear July,
Thanks for missing school.
You did everyone a favour. We were fed up with the bitch of the school.
And I just wanted to warn you that you made a big fucking mistake not meeting up with me over the Winter Break.
All I'm going to say is don't think a couple of puny letters are my main plan.
Your sister is an easy target to hurt both you and her as well.
I wish you luck trying to enjoy this school year and not to look like an idiot, because trust me you're going to need it!
Lots of Love,
The girl who hates you, Along with everyone else,
Roxanne
(Tear this up and bin it or else...)I stared in disbelief. She would go swoop so low as to write a hatred note. I was scared that she'd do something bad to Kiki though. I mean the girl's only eight. I sighed and shut my locker. Then due to my clumsiness, the note fell out of my hands and the wind from a nearby open window caught it. The note went flying in the air and into a busy hallway. I saw a hand catch the note in midair but I didn't see who caught it as I was shoved out of the way by an angry girl from an older year. By the time I regained my balance I had lost any hope of finding the note, but quite honestly, I didn't care.
I didn't care about the note. I didn't care that I had lost August. I didn't care that Calum was moving to another country. I didn't care that I had no friends. I didn't care that my family didn't love me. I didn't care that May was gone. But the truth was I really did care.
