In the months that followed, you had gotten closer to the Thai skater, Phichit.
You were really unsure about him at first because in the month long separation from your best friend, you thought that he had stolen Yuri from you.
You handled the situation rather poorly by throwing mini tantrums whenever Yuri wasn't paying attention to you in favor of Phichit.
Despite him being younger than you, Phichit assessed the situation with an air of maturity and assured you that he did not and will not steal Yuri away from you.
You did not immediately take his word for it and you totally regretted it.
It was not only until he made it so that neither you nor Yuri would cross paths with him on campus, on the rink or any where else for that matter.
It resulted in a very upset Yuri Katsuki.
You decided to fix matters by apologizing for your immaturity and your accusations. You wanted to start over.
Needless to say, after making up for that whole misunderstanding, the two of you became as thick as thieves and were soon dubbed 'selfie lords' by Yuri. In every occasion, he would often see the two of you trying to out do each other in taking the perfect shot.
He was really glad that the two of his friends got along despite their rocky beginning...but the two of you getting along too quickly was a bit hard for him to digest at first. Don't get him wrong, he was happy for the two of his friends...it's just that sometimes you were becoming a bit of a bad influence. He was afraid that your reckless behavior was going to rub off on Phichit.
He was used to it of course, but he wasn't so sure about the latter.
You and Phichit shared a competitiveness that only Yuri could consider downright ridiculous.
Other than that, you and the Thai skater had come into terms with something. You two had to look out for Yuri.
It wasn't that he couldn't take care of himself.
It was more of the other way around. He was the one who was always looking after you.
You wanted to return the favor.
It was just...he was just too pure.
And sometimes it gets him into some trouble.
Yuri was also very stubborn.
When he puts his mind into something, he would work his butt off to get it.
And this was one of those times.
You and Phichit were watching from the sidelines as Yuri tightened the laces to his skates.
The three of you lucked out and had the whole rink to yourselves.
"I still think that you shouldn't do this..." Phichit muttered.
You agreed with him, "Why do I get the feeling that this would end badly?"
Yuri sighed and removed his glasses, handing them over to you.
The least the two of you could do was have a little faith in him. It did not help that he was already nervous as it is, "Just play the track please."
You rolled your eyes and did as you were told. You scrolled through your phone's playlist and found the desired track.
Music resounded through the speakers. It was a slow and beautiful melody and it echoed throughout the walls.
Yuri skated to the music gracefully.
In every step, it tells a story. In every jump and every spin, it shows his dedication to the art.
You could never grow tired of watching him skate. He was in his element and no one could take him away.
You admire him and you couldn't be any prouder.
"Oh no..."
You turned to your other friend, "What is it?"
"He's going to try it again..."
You groaned, "Phichit, I'm no mind reader. What are youbtalking about?"
He didn't need to answer because you saw what he was talking about.
Yuri was getting into a spread eagle and readying himself for a jump.
He was in the air. And you watched, dumbfounded.
The idiot attempted to do a quadruple flip.
He tried to.
You should have seen it coming. Everything moved as if it was in slow motion.
You heard his sharp intake of breath as he realized his mistake. A thud. He fell on the ice. His body laid limply in the center of the rink.
"Yuri!"
You jumped over the railing and instructed Phichit to call someone. Even from far off, you could tell that the fall was bad.
Skaters were trained to get back up on their feet as soon as they could on a competition.
He wasn't coming up yet.
You were clamoring to his side, slipping as you went and approached him carefully, checking for anything broken.
His eyes were shut tightly and he groaned in pain.
"Yuri? Are you alright?"
You mentally kicked yourself. Of course he isn't. He friking fell.
He blearily opened his eyes.
"How did I do? Did you see me?", he croaked out.
Your shoulders slumped in relief. The idiot was fine. You narrowed your eyes at him, "Yeah I saw you alright," you seethed, "I saw you trying to kill yourself! What the hell were you thinking, Katsuki?!"
He flinched at your tone.
"You shouldn't have done that. Heaven knows how many times you could land that stupid jump..." You shook your head. "Please, for everyone's sake, don't try it again..."
He looked away, "I just thought...that with enough practice, I will finally be able to do it..."
You frowned, "Look, I know how hard you practice but please...please don't scare me like that. If you're trying to give me a heart attack, please do it when we are near a hospital..."
"I thought I could do it this time..." He mumbled.
You raised a brow, "Oh yeah? Look at how that turned out."
He winced, "Y-Yeah..."
"Just promise me don't go doing anything stupid okay?"
"...Shouldn't that be my line?"
You glared at him, "Watch it, Katsuki."
He chuckled softly, "Alright, alright. I promise."
You sighed. He hasn't gotten up yet.
You laid down on the ice beside him.
He looked at you weirdly, "(Y/N), what are you doing?"
You shrugged, "Since it seems like you don't have any plans of getting up anytime soon, I will stay here beside you so everyone would just think we're chillin'."
He looked away as a blush crept through his cheeks.
You didn't know whether it was due to the cold or something.
Phichit came running back to you two, gasping for air with one of the staff of the rink.
The sight that greeted them was rather odd.
His two friends were laying down on the ice as if nothing else mattered.
Needless to say, the next day the two of you had horrible sneezing fits due to the cold.
