The days soon blurred into weeks. The day of both yours and Yuri's comeback competition was drawing ever closer.
One would expect that the two of you would be hard at work, sharpening your skills and practicing. Well you were... however, Victor decided to cut the two of you some slack and allowed you both a day off from practice.
At the mention of a break, you bounded towards the silver-haired coach and nearly squeezed the life out of him in a hug (of death), continually thanking him for the reprieve.
Yuri had decided to make the most of this opportunity to catch up on some sleep. He wanted to sleep in even if it was just this once.
You had other plans.
"Hey, Yuri...wake up."
Your voice was quiet but laced with excitement. You nudged the dark haired sleeping beauty, trying to get him to wake up.
Yuri lazily opened his eyes and found you kneeling on the side of his bed, looking into his face. You were grinning from ear-to-ear, happy and eager when Yuri showed some semblance of consciousness, "Good morning, Yuri!"
He blinked owlishly, running his hand through his tousled up hair. He slowly placed his glasses on and checked his phone for the time.
It was 7:00 am.
"Good...morning?"
He wonders what got you so happy this morning. He thought that you would have gladly followed his lead and sleep the day away as well. Nothing presented itself as an explanation for the eager smile on your face, "Uh...did I miss something?"
You shook your head, "I just need your blanket and your pillows."
He blinked again at your strange request.
"...What?"
"Come with me and I'll show you," you straightened from your position and held out your hand for him to take.
Well, there was certainly no reason for him to go back to bed. He was already wide awake.
He took your hand and you, with little effort, hauled him to his feet. You did quick work of gathering Yuri's blanket and pillows in your arms.
"Don't you already have enough pillows in your room?"
You nodded, "I do, but I need yours too."
It was amusing. The sight of you nearly being swallowed up by the mass of softness.
He decided to give you a hand and take some of the pillows from you, still curious as to what you were planning to do with all of this.
You led the way out the door with Yuri following close behind you. You led him to your room and the only thing he could think was that it was a much bigger mess than usual. You had positioned all of your things in one end of the room and in the middle of it all was a hill of pillows and blankets.
You dumped the blanket and pillows next to...whatever it was you you were making in the middle of your room.
You looked proud of your work but he still didn't understand what the thing was. It looked as if you had gathered almost all of the bedding and pillows from their storage and some of their chairs as well.
It was piled up together, the chairs holding up some blankets stretched up on top. It was held together by a few books weighing its corners down. Underneath, were the pillows that you had clumped together forming a soft flooring for the cavern-like space.
"Well, what do you think?" You beamed at him, expectantly waiting for his input.
"...I don't know what to think."
You pouted.
"Because...I don't know what it is...?"
"It's a fort," You stated simply. You bent down to push the blankets and pillows closer with the others on the floor, making it even more bunched together and lumpy.
"...Okay?"
You grabbed a couple of snacks from the table and with it, wormed your way inside the 'fort'.
"Well?"
Yuri looked around the room and pointed to himself, still at a lost.
"Yes, you," you rolled your eyes good naturedly, "Please do come in the fort. Mi casa es su casa."
It looked safe and soft so he relented and crawler into the fort next to you. You scooted a bit to make room for Yuri. He was surprised at just how comfortable it was inside the 'fort'. It was as if he was on top of a layer of fluffiness.
It wasn't very spacious inside but it wasn't cramped either. Once he was properly situated in the mess of blankets pillows, he felt himself at ease. The light from your window filtered in through the small spaces and gaps of the 'fort's walling.
It was nice.
He raised a brow at your direction, "Why'd you make...this?"
You shrugged, looking around your creation with a twinkle in your eye and glee, "I honestly don't know. I woke up and felt like I needed to make a fort. So I did."
"...A fort...?"
You nodded, "Yes...a fort. A blanket fort, a pillow fort...a fort," you said slowly as if repeating the word would make it any more clearer to him, "Don't tell me you never did this as a kid? Gathering blankets and pillows, piling them up together and spending the whole day in them?"
He thought for a moment and shook his head.
You gave a dramatic gasp and he chuckled lightly at your reaction, "I haven't, sorry."
You draped your arm around his shoulder and shook your head in mock disappointment, "Poor, Yuri. Well, today is as good a day as any to introduce to you the wonders of my fort!"
"So what now?"
You grinned, showing him a plethora of snack items and handed him one, "Today, we feast."
He looked at you curiously, "Really, (Y/N)? Chocolate chips for breakfast?"
You paid him no heed as you opened the pack for him and got one, "What? I like living dangerously," you plopped it into your mouth.
You leant closer to Yuri and snuggled against him, soaking in his warmth.
Not expecting you to do that, his face tinged red. He soon relaxed. He liked the feeling of being close to you.
Moments like this, being with you without worrying about anything else, was becoming rare.
So feeling a little bold, he leaned in closer to you and placed a small kiss on your forehead.
A wordless way of showing how much he had appreciates the time he has with you, the little things you do for him.
You smiled and gently turned his head so that he was better facing you.
You closed the gap between the two of you and gently kissed his lips.
He tasted the mild sweetness of the chocolate chip.
His face felt warm but he didn't care. He just missed this. Missed just being with you.
You broke away slowly, just smiling at each other and were just plain happy.
There was no stress from the upcoming competition, no anxiousness for upcoming practices, it was just the two of you.
Both of you wished that moments like this never end.

"Who's going to clean this mess up?" He suddenly asked.
You gave him a pointed look, "It's not a mess, it's a fort."
"Yeah, but still...who?"
