There was something that was almost magical whenever you took to the ice.
Being on the ice meant freedom.
Being back in the competitive scene felt like a breath of fresh air for you.
You tried to calm the thrumming of your heart.
You missed this.
Disregarding your nerves, you slowly unzipped your jacket and handed it over to Yuri whose lips parted slightly as he took in the sight of you.*
The outfit was very simple. There were very minor embelishments but to him, you stood out among the rest.
You were captivating.
Your costume was nowhere as bold as most of the outfits he has seen in his entire career. You were going for 'subtlety' but it didn't make you any less beautiful.
'Simplicity is beauty' as the saying goes.
You got closer to him and lightly pushed his chin up so that he would close his mouth. You smirked, "Like what you see?" You teased.
He blinked in response and his cheeks tinged into a lovely shade of red. It was something that you often asked him once he saw you wear your program outfits for the first time. You never liked to show it to him until the day of the actual competition.
You chuckled. You would never ever grow tired of seeing Yuri blush. It just never grows old.
"Could you do me a favor, Yuri?"
He shook his head as he regained his composure, "Yeah? What is it?"
"Don't take your eyes off me."
A small smile graced his lips, "I wouldn't dream of looking anywhere else."
At that, you felt your knees go weak. You glomped Yuri into a bone crushing hug to show just how much you appreciated him watching you. He awkwardly patted you on your back, unable to do much of anything else since you practically entrapped him in your hold.
Your bone crushing hug turned transformed into something more of a tender embrace and you buried your face in the crook of his neck.
You loved being this close to Yuri.
He made you felt safe and secure.
In a way, you felt like he was your life line.
He is your life line.
Your hair was tickling him a bit but he didn't utter a sound. He immediately picked up on the sudden change as he felt your hold slackened a bit.
You needed this.
You needed him.
You were afraid that if you let go of him now, he would slip past you.
The answer as to why you were blessed with someone like Yuri was beyond you.
And there were times when you were grateful that he was there with you.
This was one of those times.
There were times when you doubted you deserved him. You knew he deserved a lot better.
You were selfish and you wanted him to be just your Yuri.
"I won't let you down, Yuri," you promised, "You'll see...I want to make you proud."
He was silent for a bit then he carefully pried himself off of you, still holding onto you. His eyes softened, a loving smile formed on his lips.
This was one of those rare moments that Yuri ever gets to see. He cherishes these little moments because he gets to learn more about you every time.
Sometimes he forgets that you also had weaknesses. You had doubts and insecurities just like he does.
The only difference was you had learned how to hide yours better than he ever could.
He often finds himself thinking...
You were strong for the two of you.
He wanted you to know that you didn't always have to be.
"You already have..."
Your eyes widened. You smiled softly, just relishing Yuri's warmth.
You felt your heart skip a beat.
Leave it to Yuri to be able to say just what you needed to hear.
You wished you could stay like this a little longer, with Yuri by your si-
"Is this a bad time?"
The two if you turned to see Victor with an oblivious smile plastered onto his face.
You frowned, "I don't know. You tell me," your tone was dripping with sarcasm but the silverette just let it roll right off him like water.
"I'd really love to leave you two alone," he started, "But you're up next, (Y/N). You better get ready."
You puffed your cheeks and huffed irritably, "I'm going, I'm going! No need to get your panties in a twist."
The three of you already gathered by the rink's entrance.
You bent down a bit, holding onto the skirting to slip off your skate guards. You handed them over to Victor's waiting hands.
"For our final skater, also representing Ice Castle Hasetsu, (L/N) (F/N)," Morooka announced.
The crowd started to cheer as they heard your name.
You took a deep breath and sighed, "Well...this is me."
"You're ready, aren't you?" Victor asked.
You raised a brow, "This is me we're talking about here Victor," you said, "Of course I'm ready. I was born ready."
He gave you a blank stare, "I decided to change your triple toe into a triple lutz."
Your eyes widened, "What?!"
A grin broke out on his lips, "I'm just kidding~"
You narrowed your eyes at him. Who does this perfect bastard think he is. With his heart shaped smile and every-
"(Y/N)."
You turned to your dark haired boyfriend as you heard Yuri call your name. You were no longer able to utter a response when he had gently pulled you closer to him.
You were met with a quick kiss on the cheek.
He was all red in the face like a ripened tomato.
"That's...t-that's for good luck."
You entered the rink smiling a lot more than you probably should have, placing a hand on the spot which Yuri had just kissed.
You had butterflies in your stomach and no, it wasn't from the nerves.
You glided across the ice a bit to regain your composure.
You were on cloud nine. You felt like you were on top of the world.
That settles it.
Yuri was just too much for your poor heart to handle.

I don't know if I'll survive until the end of this month. The stress of Finals week is killing me...literally. When you get admitted into the ER twice in one week then have a job interview on Monday...oh boi...
I apologize for any errors...I hope you like it anyway^^"
