Being thrown back into the world of competitive figure skating all of a sudden has got you nervous and excited. At first it was mostly nervous...then excited...then nervous again...but then excited. It was odd. On and off, on and off.

These two emotions were conflicting and confusing, but with only a day before the Chugoku, Shikoku and Kyushu Championship, you found yourself being more excited than nervous.

'Hot Springs on Ice' has made you realize that you actually missed competing. You weren't pitted against either Yuri's during that time but still...you wondered what if you actually were...

You smiled.

You would be crushed for sure. This was Yuri Plisetsky and Yuri Katsuki you were talking about.

But still...

When Yuri had taken a brief hiatus from skating competitions, you followed suit without missing a beat, without another thought.

But being here right now with him made you all the more pumped up.

You were ready.

You had already drawn your lot and are the third.

You were sitting beside Yuri, waiting for his name to be called for his turn to draw.

Strangely enough, Yuri was not as anxious or as restless as you thought he would be. Despite being the two of the eldest competitors in this particular event, it did little to faze you.

"Skater Katsuki, please come forward," The event coordinator called out.

Yuri stood from his seat and rummaged through the bag that the coordinator held out.

You could see it in his face, he was wishing- no - praying for anything but first spot like last year-

He looked to the card in his hand and he visibly deflates like a balloon, his hands covered his face as he sulked.

You chuckled softly. Some things never change.

When he got back to his seat, you both heard whimpering coming from Yuri's right, but as the two of you continued to observe the strange teen creating the sound, you both soon realized that he wasn't whimpering but was in fact giggling.

"I get to see you draw the first spot in person again, Yuri-kun! I love it!"

Yuri just stared blankly at the teen with dirty blonde hair with a bold streak of red, trying to process what he just said.

The bland look threw him to a shock, "What?! You don't remember me?"

"Er..."

"Next up is Skater Minami," the coordinator calls.

In a flash, his demeanor changed as soon as he heard his name called out, "Right here! Minami Kenjirou!"

He shot up from his seat and bounded towards the front. He exhibited such energy that it was almost hard to keep up with him, he drew from the bag and held out the card with his spot on it, flailing it around, "Yay! I'm going fourth!"

Yuri turned to you, a hand cupped close to his mouth and whispered, "Uh...who is he again?"

You raised a brow and pouted, "You're so mean to your fans, Yuri. How could you not remember the little chicken nugget's name?"

He blinked owlishly, "...Eh?"

Neither of you had been in a competition since last year's Nationals.

This was the time to see whether or not you still had it in you to compete.

During warm ups, You carefully eyed Yuri.

Something had drastically changed.

Victor called out to the two of you and you both skated towards him on the side of the rink.

You brightened at the sight of the little Makkachin tissue box holder he had in his hands. You didn't waste a moment and grabbed it from his hold, gushing on about how cute it was.

Victor chuckled in amusement and you beamed, playfully rubbing the Makkachin lookalike to Yuri's face, "Now it feels like Makkachin is watching us as well,"

"Yeah..." He blandly responded which made you frown.

He noticed that your eyes darkened and he gulped nervously, he began to sweat bullets, "I m-mean it's cute, really cute!" He desperately turned to Victor who was just watching the whole scene unfold in amusement.

No luck finding help there.

You thwacked the box of tissues to Yuri's head.

"O-ouch! What was that for?!"

You handed Makkachin Jr back to Victor and turned away from Yuri in a huff, skating away from both Yuri and Victor.

As for now, during public practice, you hoped that Yuri would get out of whatever funk he is in.

You did not like it one bit.

Something was wrong with Yuri and whatever it was, he better get his act together otherwise it wouldn't be that fun skating with him.
