You awkwardly stood there for what seemed like an eternity, fiddling with your fingers.
You hated this.
You wanted to go home.
Your eyes trailed off to the floor, finding your shoes to be the most interesting thing at the moment.
It was a wonder how you managed to stay upright for so long.
Those skates were sort of a pain to wear.
You never wanted to come here in the first place.
Having been ripped away from everything you once knew and loved then moving over to Hasetsu on such sort notice becouse of a lousy job promotion for your parents has set you on edge.
All of your friends were back in your old hometown.
Your whole life was in your old hometown.
And your family just decided to up and go, dragging you along with them without so much as your consent.
Your mother thought that it would be best to let you explore a little, get a feel of the environment.
The place that you are supposed to call home.
This place was a far cry from it.
You did not even know why she dropped you off here in the first place, then saying she would come pick you up in about an hour.
This wasn't some daycare, it was an ice rink for crying it loud!
And you knew diddley squat about skating.
Maybe to her, the only ice rink in town seemed like the best place to leave a teen who is having a clichéd teen crisis.
Someone seemed to have noticed you glaring at the ground because they approached you with a slight tap on your shoulder, scaring the crap out of you.
Your soul nearly leaving your body must have been so amusing because she giggled.
"Hey, why don't you go skate?"
You tried to resist glaring at the girl, she was probably your age if not, a bit older. She had brown hair tied into a high ponytail and a big smile adorning her face.
It irked you.
How dare she break you out of your wallowing of self pity.
"It's n-none of your business..." You grumbled.
Unperturbed by your surly tone, she just smiled at you, "It'd be a shame not to, y'know?"
"Maybe I just like to just stand here and watch others do the skating. Ever thought of that?" You bit back.
She just giggled making your eyes twitch.
"You can't see from this far off, silly."
Was this girl made out of sunshine and rainbows? You weren't so sure.
"S-so what?"
"Alright, alright I'll leave you alone."
She headed for the rink before sending one last glance your direction, "The name is Yuko by the way."
You just huffed, turning your head the other way.
She just rolled her eyes good naturedly at your reaction and entered the rink.
To your surprise, the speakers came to life not long after she entered. It was playing some old classical music which you didnt bother to remember the title of but it was beautiful nonetheless.
