He could not believe it. He continued to stare at the medallion in his hand as it glinted in the light. He was in a state of euphoria and contentment. He did it. It felt as if the weight of the world was no longer on his shoulders, a huge burden has been relieved from him.

He could breathe easy now.

Yuri could not believe he had just did what he thought to be impossible. He was able to do the quadruple flip, Victor's signature move. Although he did not stick the landing, he had gotten enough rotations in and he still felt immensely accomplished. With a quad flip under his belt, he felt all the more closer to winning the Grand Prix Finals.

He came in second to Phichit who got first place in the Cup of China. His best friend was ecstatic. The Thai skater deserved it though after working so hard to earn his keep in the competition. He was practically glowing with pride. Chris came in third. It was comforting how fellow athlete accepted it with such grace.

All seemed right with the world...

....Except you were nowhere to be found.

He scanned through the crowd earlier but he couldn't find you at all. The camera flashes and the bustling reporters stood in his way. He had thought that you would be there to greet him with a smile on your face, telling him that he did great. You always told him that even when he knew that he had messed up in a competition...but this time, you didn't. You weren't there after his performance and you weren't there when he took to the podium. It worried him.

He had already changed out of his costume and into something more comfortable. He had safely put away his medal and was now rummaging his bag for his phone when Phichit came in the dressing room.

"Hey, Yuri," The younger athlete greeted softly, a smile adorning his face, "I was not able to say this earlier but you did really great out there today," he gave his friend a thumbs up, "Good job!"

Yuri could not help but smile back at Phichit's cheery nature, "Yeah...It was a bit of a close call back there."

Phichit nodded, "I didn't think you were crazy enough to pull off something like a quad flip though,"

Yuri laughed sheepishly, "I wasn't really in the right state of mind then."

"Still, you were amazing...Don't think that I would go easy on you next time!"

He chuckled, "I wouldn't dream of it Phichit."

The younger skater looked around the room. It was just the two of them. It made him wonder...

"By the way, I haven't seen (Y/N) since their performance. Do you know where they are?"

Yuri frowned and shook his head, "I haven't seen (Y/N) either...you've seen Victor outside right? Weren't they with him?"

Phichit tilted his head in confusion, "I thought for sure that (Y/N) would be here with you. In fact, I wanted to take a selfie of the three of us before Ciao Ciao and I head back to the hotel."

"I'll go call them..." Yuri immediately dialed your number on his phone and pressed the device against his ear and waited. All he heard was the dial tone and then...he heard a familiar tune play from somewhere in the room.

Phichit's eyes widened, "Isn't that (Y/N)'s ring tone?"

Yuri's eyes trailed over to the source of the sound. Your phone was there inside your bag that was leaning against the wall with some of its contents strewn about, flashing, notifying of an incoming call. You left your phone. He ended the call. Something was wrong.

He was worried before but right now, he was terrified.
