Real life is unpredictable and you never know what is coming next. Word of the wise is, we shouldn't get too comfortable. We should always be ready for what it's about to throw at us.
What Yuri didn't expect however is to feel like absolute hell. He groaned in pain as he tossed and turned on his bed, trying to get himself in a comfortable position. He tried to lift himself up a bit to fluff his pillow which soon proved to be a big mistake as his head pounded in protest.
He fell back to bed with another groan.
No one enjoys being sick. Unfortunately for him he came down with a serious case of the cold. His nose was runny and his eyes were rather puffy. Every now and then he would get this itchy sensation in his throat which is really irritating. Not only was he feeling miserable, he felt weak as well.
He had already taken some cold medicine earlier that morning but he could still get no relief. Yuri did the most sensible thing and decided to lay in bed until this miserable feeling subsides.
All the stress and all those practices at the rink for the CSK championship must have finally taken its toll on him. This had got to be his body's way of reminding him to take care of himself every now and then (but in all honesty, he blames it on having to chase Victor down in the cold after he found that his coach was attempting to burn down the neck tie he wore during the press conference).
He let out a ghost of a sigh as he tried to go back to sleep. Sleep sounded good. He needed to re-
"Yuri!"
He nearly shot out of his bed as his door slid open with you suddenly barging in.
"You do know that you're two hours late for practice, right?" You reminded him. You were a bit out of breath and sweaty from your run all the way from Ice Castle "And now Victor's taking it all out on me. He's a real slave driver when he wants to-"
You only then took in his haggard appearance as it looked like he hadn't slept a wink.
You immediately knelt by his side and took his hands in yours, your eyes shone with worry, "Are you alright?"
He allowed a small sheepish smile to grace his features, "I'm fine really...there is really no need for you to worry."
You pursed your lips. You observed the dark haired skater's disheveled appearance. His hair was sticking out from every which way, his eyes were watery and not to mention his nose was beginning to rival that of one of Santa's reindeers.
"'No need to worry' my foot," You shook your head, "You are obviously not okay."
He was about to utter a protest when he was cut of by having to sneeze rather loudly. He looked even more...what was the word?...ill than before. You stood up and wiped some of the spittle from your hand on your shirt.
"My point exactly," you stated as you grabbed the tissue box sitting on his desk and brought it closer to him, "You know you could have just called me that you weren't feeling well. I'm pretty sure Victor would understand." And you wouldnt have the need to run so fast.
He looked away bashfully, "I didn't want to be a bother...everyone is so busy...Mom already gave me some cold medicine earlier...and with The Cup of China in a couple of weeks-"
You waved your hand at him flippantly, "Psshhh. You know me, Yuri. I would gladly skip practice for you."
He still was not convinced, "It's just a cold, (Y/N)."
You rolled your eyes at him but your expression suddenly brightened as an idea came to mind, "I know what will make you feel better."
He blinked in bewilderment, "You...do?"
