Victor lead both you and Yuri out of the rink. You all headed back to the hotel in order to change into something more comfortable. It was quiet. None of you uttered a word to each other during the whole trip to the restaurant Victor had been wanting to go to since the interview.

Strangely enough it wasn't the awkward sort of silence. It was as of the exchange between Victor and his former coach had never even happened.

It was probably for the best. It wasn't like you would be able to broach the subject without making the conversation lean towards the awkward side. It was also a plus that you were all headed towards the restaurant now. Food was a welcoming thought.

Once the three of you got in, you all opted for a small booth that would accommodate all of you. Once again, Victor managed to snag a seat next to Yuri much to your chagrin.

You would have loved to do a repeat of the 'marker incident' on the plane but you have almost nothing to work with and you would really rather not to cause a scene especially with the nearing competition in mind.

You sighed. You would just let it slide this time and hope that you could get through dinner without a hitch.

It was nice. Just the three of you after a long day. Your coach was even nice enough to be treating both you and Yuri...

Who were you kidding? Despite wanting some food earlier, you quickly changed your mind over the stuff that Victor had ordered. You knew you should have intervened when Victor was picking out stuff from the menu.

You swore that you saw something still moving in one of the plates...

"You guys don't want to eat the shrimp?"

You shook your head and mumbled out a, "No thank you...I'm good."

Yuri kindly declined as well when Victor offered some of his food to taste, saying something about not wanting to eat raw food before a competition. You envied Yuri. You wish you could come up with the same well thought out excuse of your own (except Yuri's wasn't so much an excuse as it was something that he has decided to live by).

Whatever semblance of hunger you had earlier was gone and instead opted to watch Victor happily eat his meal.

Yuri seemed rather conflicted. You shot a small smile towards his direction, "A penny for your thoughts?"

He sighed and rested his chin on the palm of his hand, "I really have to stop this..."

"Stop what?"

"I got a bit ahead of myself during the press conference," he further elaborated, "I could already imagine what they would say when I lose after saying all of that..."

Your small smile turned into a more questioning frown,  "You think you'd lose? You're getting ahead of yourself right now."

He shuffled a bit in his seat under your stare. You were sitting across from him. It was pretty hard to avoid your scrutinizing gaze, "Well...I don't know...It's always a possibility."

You shook your head. In disappointment? He couldn't exactly tell, "You really shouldn't give a damn what others say. Let them talk."

"That's the problem right there..." Yuri's voice was barely a mumble.

"Quit thinking like that, Yuri." You replied, "Don't let your nerves get to you now."

"I don't think that these are my nerves talking..." His voice was still small, "It's reasonable. Everyone else is..."

You couldn't help but scoff a bit, "What? 'Better than you'? You have made it plenty clear that you're no pushover there on the ice, Yuri."

He still didn't look convinced.

Victor had then decided to join in the conversation making Yuri face him, "You're already throwing in the towel so early in the game?" he asked, "This isn't like you at all, Yuri."

The bespectacled skater felt himself sinking in lower, "It's not that I'm giving up. I-"

"And after all this talk of you being more stronger because of love." The silverette threw in offhandedly.

Yuri's eyes widened a bit when he said that. He looked away, his lips formed a thin line.

You didn't know why, but his statement got to you as well. It honestly rattled you even by a small margin.

Yuri's eye brows furrowed a bit, "I'm not giving up..." his expression changed into that of uncertainty, "I'm not giving up," he repeated which made it sound like he was trying to convince himself of that fact.

You let out a dry chuckle which made him turn his attention to you, "Don't go having second thoughts about this now Yuri...You've already gotten this far. There is really no point in backing out now."

"I know but-"

You held a hand up to stop him right there, "Remember...?"

He let out a small chuckle of his own, "'But's' are for chairs...You really do have weird sayings."

"And the weirdness doesn't really end there, doesn't it?"

Both you and Yuri looked up in surprise to that familiar voice. You beamed brightly when you saw exactly who it was. All previous tenseness seemed to have faded, "Fancy meeting you here. I didn't think we would see you until the competition."

He gave a shrug, his smile never left his face. "Well you know what they say, it's a small world and all that."

"Not small enough," you stood from your seat and embraced him and he embraced you back, "I should really be offended by your little comment earlier...but it's great to see you again, Phichit."

It's been quite a while since you and Yuri had seen the Thai skater personally. Video chats were nice but even then it wasn't as often as either of you would have liked. He hasn't really changed that much other than he has grown a lot taller since Detroit. He was still the same, bubbly Phichit that you all know and love.

Yuri smiled towards his old rink mate, "You could join us if you'd like," he offered.

Victor happily agreed with the idea, "I do not see why he can't."

You were practically ecstatic. At first you thought that dinner was beginning at such a sour note but now that Phichit was here, you felt as if you could get by. You scooched over to the chair beside you and patted your previous seat, motioning for the younger skater to sit beside you.

After introductions between Victor and Phichit, your old rink mate sat gratefully sat beside you and the three of you began to animatedly catching up on lost time with one another. Filling each other on what's been going on. Victor listened intently and voiced in his own little comments every now and then. You could already tell that both Victor and Phichit were getting along quite well.

Dinner became a much more lively affair and Phichit decided to make it a little more livelier.

Phichit got his phone out and turned to Yuri, "Would it be alright if I invited Ciao Ciao over?"

At that, Yuri could feel cold sweat form on his fore head, "W-what?"

"You do want to see him don't you?" Phichit pressed.

"Um...not really..." Yuri muttered.

Despite Yuri's say so, Phichit still invited Ciao Ciao over. Yuri really didn't want to confront his old coach in person so soon but you just watched in amusement as Yuri was coming up with something to say to the man before he came.

Dinner was starting to become a lot more interesting that was for sure.
