Not Creepy

Do you know what's creepy?

Stuffed toys...whether it's animals or cartoon characters or Disney princesses, I don't care, they all look creepy to me.

But Dayu, stuffed toys are cute! (you all whine)

Ahm no...I would have to say no. It's the eyes you know, those big, multi colored, unblinking eyes that look straight at you and follows you everywhere you go in your room. And they are always smiling (why the hell are they always smiling), like they have nefarious plans for you and they will attack you at the moment you least expect it.

And don't get me started on those stuffed toy teddy bears with sizes bigger than you. I mean, that's just wrong man, very wrong.

But that's just me. We are all unique individuals with different likes and dislikes. Many people like stuffed toys and I try not to judge them. But if you like stuffed toys and I offended you then you can curse at me while reading this (still won't judge you). You can even call me weird if you like (feeling better now?)

So in conclusion, stuffed toys creeped me out and I won't judge people who like them.

I'm talking about this because someone asked me today if I found fans following us at cafes or parking lot or in the airport creepy.

My answer will be no. Of course they don't creep me out. A Winnie the Pooh stuffed toy creep me out (he has no pants! Why?) but not fans who follow their idols when they see them on the street or at the airport.

I mean, before I became a singer and an actor, I was also a fan. Heck still am. I see a favorite actor of mine in a broadcasting building or in a studio, you bet your ass I wanna follow him around. But of course it's easier for me now to come near to my idols. Sometimes someone who is familiar with them will be so kind to introduce me. There's also some instances that I just puff my chest and gather my courage and bravely come forth to introduce myself. Extreme politeness is the key of course. I'm still a newbie and they are my seniors so I have to watch my actions and words and I can't be too aggressive towards them. Proper decorum is important.

What I'm trying to say is I know how a fan feels and I know that it's not easy. That's why I always say that I am grateful to the people who like me (I don't call them fans, I call them people who like me) and to the effort they are giving just to capture me on pictures and videos. Imagine this, they are willing to wait for hours in the airport just to catch a glimpse of their idol that will walk in front of them for just thirty seconds? That's dedication man, that's amazing!

So I don't find that creepy. They saw me in a cafe, took some pictures, that's fine. They saw me leaving a broascasting building, approach me and ask for my signature, I'm cool with that. Saw me at the airport and chat me up, I'm willing to answer of course.

I think having rapport with your fans is important to any artist. I saw Wang Qing doing it and he too enjoys interacting with his fans. It's an easy way for them to know you more and for you to know them as well. In a second, you can leave a lasting impression to your fans while they will leave an impression on you too.

I think this is important because now that fandoms are as famous as the artist that they represents, it's mandatory that you know what is the impression of other fandoms to your fans. I sometimes check out my social media accounts and I can see comments of fans about fandom this and fandom that (some comments can be utterly rude and nasty that even I got surprised). I mean I see it, fandom wars do exist and sometimes this thing can turn ugly and nasty.

That's why when I have a chance to chat up the leaders of a fan club of mine, I always remind them not to engage in a kind of thrash talk between rival fan clubs. I suggest that there are easier ways to handle rude people, just ignore them or say that you respect their opinion and just agree to disagree.

I also reminded them that nothing good can come out of heated arguments. They say nasty things, you retaliate, they answer again, you responded back, it won't stop. Better to just nip it in the bud and go your separate ways, you can avoid stress that way. No need to argue people.

But  Dayu, what about fans that do it because they are defending you? Will you also stop them?

Yes, without any hesitation, yes.

Oh don't get me wrong. I am grateful to people who came to my rescue when some haters or bashers say something bad about me. Believe me, it warms me up inside. I can't invent the right word to thank you all enough for doing that, for standing up for me. But I want you all to remember, people who bash me or say something bad about me, those people don't like me and don't know me. And I think trying to reason with those kind of people, or maybe trying to change their minds so they will like me, I think it's a waste of time.

But not everyone who doesn't like me are haters you know.

If say, for example, you are a fan of mine and an ugly rumor (clearly a lie) about me surfaced and spread out, if you see a comment like this "Is this true?", you can answer and explain to that person that it's not true etc etc. This person is not a hater, maybe he/she just didn't know me and at least he/she are willing to ask if the rumor is true or not.

But if you encounter a comment like this, "Oh this is so true and he is worse than this, he is the worst actor and singer etc etc", I would suggest to my fans that don't bother engaging this commentor, he/she clearly made up his/her mind about me. No amount of convincing will change this person's mindset.

I also think that even though fandoms are a powerful tool but an artist also had a job to do. I told my fans, you know it's nice that you stand up for me, that you tell people the truth about me, that's really great and to help you guys let me also do my job of convincing those people. I told them that the majority of convincing more people to like me and to silence those haters and bashers rest on my shoulders. Let my talent and my hard work do the talking, do the convincing. I believe that if I work hard and hone my craft, eventually more people can see and appreciate my efforts and they will like me. I hope for that.

I know I am so lucky, me and Wang Qing, we are so very very megastastic lucky that we have such loving and solid fandoms and fanbase. That they are willing to follow us, took pictures of us, video us, and support us in every way they can. They are the best promoters you know.

Most of all, our fans are not shy to express their love for us. You guys have no idea how heartwarming it is for you to tell us how much you appreciate our work, may it be a song, movie, magazine covers or show guestings. Your love is warmer that the warmest blanket.

And those words also gave us strength and encouragement to work harder and to love our job more. That's why I want everyone to know that we, Wang Qing and I, appreciate you guys so much.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH

Words won't be enough I know that's why Wang Qing and I always talk about working harder and making you guys proud so you can all say that you didn't make a mistake for liking us. That you won't regret loving a Feng Jian Yu and a Wang Qing.

Wang Qing and I always say that we are not idols and fans, we are a family. And that's true...we are a family. A solid, loving family.

That's why someday, I hope really really soon, we can come to you all and say "This is us. We are one. In love"

But I also know that that's impossible for now. Wang Qing is right, everything had to come out in the right time. That timing is important. For now, this is enough. Working hard is enough. Loving our fans is enough. And someday, we can all be together again without any shadow looming above us.

Stay strong everyone. Keep believing. Keep on loving. We are here to love and not to hate. That's what I believe and I will keep believing that as long as I have my fans beside me.

(I'm not getting emotional *sniff sniff* I swear) 😊❤️
