You put Qing's mom and the Goddess in one kitchen, what will they do?

They will bake.

Day two of Qing's mom stay in our home. After having a quiet dinner last night with me, she decided to turn in early to rest.

I nodded and hope that she will really rest and not cry on the guestroom.

Qing called his mom last night and called me after as I locked our home.

Qing: She sounded fine and composed. I already apologized and told her that I will try talking to Baba again.

Me: Will you really talk to your dad again?

Qing: (sighing) Fine, I will tell you the truth. I guilted my sister to go to the mauseleom tomorrow with her husband. I am busy working and she is the child in Beijing right now. She should do her best to try to fix them.

Me: They are not broken, what's there to fix? An apology from your dad will stop all this problem.

Qing: You are living with me. Why are you still naive about us Wangs? Sorry is something we have to think about a million times before we utter it. We are stupid that way...

Amen to that!

Qing's dad, Qing and his sister are all the same that way. Apologizing is like torture to them. Admitting they are wrong is hard for them.

They are not bad people. It's just how they are made. Something psychological I think. Like how I will not accept help when I feel pain or I am hurt. I am wired that way.

The Wangs are wired thinking that apologizing and accepting that they are wrong is an attack on them personally.

It's mind boogling.

Anyway. Back to the ladies baking in my kitchen. We saw the Goddess a while ago in the elevator and Qing's mom recognize her.

Not because she is a famous actress but because they support the same orphanage. They already met personally in a charity gala and I think they hit it off cause the next thing I knew I was being ordered to buy ingredients for a cake.

Of course the errand boy did ran to do their biddings.

Now they are laughing and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice as we wait for the cakes to cool down for icing. They talk about the various charity works they do while waiting

I listen to the side and smile when I see Qing's mom looking happy with a particular shared memory she had with the Goddess in that charity gala they attended.

At least she forgets her problem with Qing's dad while she bake and talk with my neighbor.

Qing's mom: It's nice to know that my sons have a neighbor like you. You guys are friends, right?

Me: (nodding) Yes Ma.

Goddess: I like this cute one better than his roommate.

Qing's mom: (frowning) Why do you call them cute guy and his roommate and not by their names?

Goddess: (waving her hand) We do that so we remain anonymous. If someone ask me if I have popular neighbors I can say I don't know and not lie because I really never got their names.

Qing's mom: (smiling) That sounds like fun. But you know who they are?

Goddess: (laughing) Who doesn't know this cute guy and his equally popular roommate? I am just not aware that Mr.Roommate is your son Mrs.Wang.
