Doctor: It's called the placebo effect. It's when a person thinks she is pregnant even if she is not just because she is thinking or desiring it too much.

Me: But I am not a lady. And I don't want to be pregnant. Why do I have this?

Doctor: It might be because a pregnant woman attached herself to you. And you, somehow, sympathized with her. You know, a little bit more sensitive to her feelings.

Me: In short, since the other guys surrounding her are jerks and I am the only nice one, I got this...what again? Placebo effect?

Qing: We were not jerks. Nushi just attached herself to you like a chick to her Mama.

Me: (glaring at him) Did we ask for your opinion? No, right? So shut it.

Qing: (looking at the doctor) He is like that, Gege. His moods are...a lot weirder than usual. Please tell me this will be over soon and he will be back to his old self. I cannot believe I am wishing for Dayu to get back to his old crazy self but this is something I just can't...

Me: (interjecting) Can I ask for a more supportive partner? I am going through a lot right now and he is no help at all.

Doctor: (smiling amusedly at us) I am an internal medicine doctor. I think you need a marriage counselor for that. But to answer Qing's question. Yes, this is temporary and now that Dayu and the pregnant lady are separated, he will be fine soon.

We all sighed like this is too hard for all of us to solve. It's a waiting game. We will know in the following days if this placebo effect will lessen in time.

Qing gave our doctor friend a smile and they stood up so he can escort him to the door. He contacted our doctor friend when I started vomiting again this morning and crying about the ice cream and pickles I ate last night. Or is it this early morning? Either way we have a name now for what is happening to me.

Placebo effect.

Research it on the internet everyone.

Me? I can't be arsed to research for it. I am hungry again. It's breakfast time and we have to postponed it for the impromptu check up with our doctor friend.

I yawned while Qing came back to the living room.

Qing: Still sleepy?

Me: Hungry.

Qing grew quiet. I glare at him.

Me: (irrationally irritated at him) Why are you not saying anything? I said I am hungry.

Qing: (wincing) I am just scared what weird food combination you will ask this time.

Me: You have to ask me first what I want to eat before you think they are weird.

Qing: (sighing) Fine, I will bite. What do you want to eat?

Me: Fried rice and omelet...

Qing: (smiling) We can do that.

Me: Smothered in maple syrup.

Qing: And it got weird again. Dayu ah...

Me: You cook the fried rice then before you put out the fire, you swirl maple syrup on it. The same for the omelet. Can I have soda pop? Also with maple syrup? And I want tempura and sushi...

Qing: Let me guess...with maple syrup?

Me: What? No! Tempura and sushi in cheese souffle. Why will you pour maple syrup in sushi? Although on second thought, that does sound good. Cheese souffle in maple syrup and sushi...
