I am holding a hot Qing.
No really, he's hot. Fever can do that to your body.
Yup, he is human after all. He got sick. According to my expert observation, looking at his runny nose, hearing his sneeze and snorting, hot forehead, headache and by the amount of tissue he consumed. My diagnosis is common cold. (Good job Dr. Dayu!)
Awwww...Baba is sick...(sad face)
Yeah it's a bad news. But the good news is unlike me, Qing is an excellent patient. Even if he can't taste anything because of his messed up sense of smell and tastebuds, he eats even without any encouragement from me. He drinks his medicine on time. Rest up and won't try to move around to impend his recovery.
He is a model patient.
That's why I can go to work without worrying that he will try to do something strenous on his own. I also don't have to threaten him that I will call his mother to rat on him. Or act indignantly if he won't listen to the doctor's advice.
Really, he is such a killjoy. He takes away all the fun of being his nurse. Such an obedient child.
Tonight, even though he is still a bit warm, he said he feels like a human being again. He predicted that one more night of good sleep and he will be as good as new tomorrow. I hope he is right.
Seeing him sick is hard for me of course. He never missed his vitamins but I guess the virus that entered his body combined with Qing's DNA so it inherited his stubborness that's why it takes hold.
But even model patient can get bored too. So it's up to me to entertain him. Qing is easy to entertain, if he can have sex. But if he is down with sickness, nothing can please him.
Qing: I don't want to watch TV Dayu, it will just give me headache.
Me: How about listening to music?
Qing: Too noisy.
Me: Classical is too noisy?
Qing: (glared at me)
Me: O-kay, no music. How about, board games...
Qing: It will require thinking and like I said, I don't want a headache.
Me: (getting a headache while thinking of new ideas) How about...ahm...
Qing: (sighing exasperatedly) How about reading for me?
Me: (clapping my hand) I was about to suggest that.
Qing: (skeptical) Sure you are. Pick something light and easy to read.
I went to our bookshelf and pick a book about light poetry. I've read this book, it has funny parts and sometimes heartwarming verses that can shoot straight to your heart.
I came back to bed. Shared a pillow with Qing who put his head against the side of shoulder then close his eyes.
I started reading. My words are slow and I stop after every line to breath and get into the rhythm. Every now and then I will caress Qing's cheek and hair, just to touch him.
After two poems, Qing is already asleep. I put down the book and start my own brand of entertainment. I watch his sleeping face.
He looks so young while sleeping. Qing is younger than me by 6 months, sometimes people forgot that just because he is bigger than me or act more mature than me. But asleep, he shows his angelic side.
I lightly trace my fingertip to his eyebrows, up to his frown free forehead, down to his nose and finally his lips. I smile at him.
This man is mine. He loves me. He cares for me. He worries for me. He dreams for us. He protects us. He is amazing.
Being loved by him is an amazing feeling.
I slowly lean in to kiss his warm forehead.
Me: (leaning out) Get well soon my Sweat King. I love you...
I get up to go outside of the bedroom to lock our house (good thing I now knew how to lock our doors eh) then I make sure that nothing is charging (Our phones are fully charged before we sleep), after that I switch off the lights before going back to Qing's side.
I close my eyes. Happy that I can do this for him. Take care of him.
