I have a new credit card. It's gold, crisp and it's maximum credit doubled my old card.

I am not happy but Qing got it for
me and after what happened, I can't do anything about it.

So listen up, this could happen to anyone. (Not wishing it but being prepared is not also bad)

Qing always complain about my inability to do anything without his help or supervision.

Like "Dayu needs constant care" or "I always have to keep an eye on Dayu in case he needed help opening bottled water or tying his shoelaces".

He complains about that while, in private, I complained about him smothering me with care.

But nowadays we are making progress. Like I said before, he trust me more now to do things on my own. His smothering ways and overprotectiveness are subsiding and I feel like having a bit more freedom from his constant concern about me.

But sometimes...incidents happen. Like last week, when I got home from work and found Qing walking back and forth on our living room, looking agitated, with a white envelop in his hand.

Qing: (raising the envelop in his hand, clearly irritated) What the hell is this?

Me: (cautiously walking closer to him) And good evening to you too.

Qing: (eyes getting colder) I am not in the mood for your smartass answers Dayu.

Me: (putting my bag on the sofa) I am not being a smartass. I'm just greeting you like a polite lover should do. Now what is wrong with you?

Qing: You! You are what's wrong with me. You and your carelessness.

He held out the white envelop to me. I took it and inspect it. It's a credit card billing statement addressed to me and it's already open.

Me: (arching my eyebrow at him) You are opening my personal letters now?

Qing: (sneering) That's hardly a personal letter, that's a billing statement.

Me: But it's addressed to me. Is it really hard for you to wait for me before opening it to avoid invading my privacy?

Qing: Your privacy? I am your lover. We live together. Opening your credit card billing statement doesn't constitute to me invading your privacy. Don't make me remind you about that package again. But enough of that, can you explain to me what happened to your bill?

Me: (opening the envelop and dish out the paper inside it.) Why? What's wrong with it?

I read the bill and my eyes grew huge when I saw the amount listed there.

Me: (looking at Qing) What the hell happened? Why is...huh?

Qing: (putting his hands on his waist) You tell me. Did you put a downpayment for a house or a limited edition car that I didn't know? Why is your bill sporting that huge amount?

Me: (totally confuse) I don't know! I...this is...wow. This doesn't make any sense at all. Why is my bill this huge? Qing ah, you know me, I never max out my credit card. Why is it like this?

Qing: (angry now) Why are you asking me? I gave you that card because I thought you can be responsible for it. Now you don't know why your bill is that huge? Are you kidding me right now?

Me: (almost shouting) Cause I don't know! I have no idea how my bill got like this? (I look up at him) What should I do? Should I call the bank?

Qing: (clearly frustrated at me) Of course you should call the bank!

Me: (frustrated too) Why are you shouting at me? Stop being angry at me! I don't know anything about this, this is not my fault!

Qing: That is your card! That is your responsibility. How can you stand there and say that this is not your fault?

Me: (waving the bill like a flag) But I didn't spent this huge amount of money. Qing ah, I'm stingy remember? Do you really think I have it in me to spend all this money?

Qing: (snatching the bill from my hand) Fine, you don't know anything about it then let me take care of this...

Me: (snatching the bill back) No! I will take care of this. You are blaming me? Fine! I will take that blame and sort this out on my own.

Qing: (sneering) Can you really take care of that on your own?

I wanna crumple the bill into a ball and shove it into his mouth. We are back to the old days again. With him being all superior and condenscending and me wanting to smash things on his face in frustration.

Me: (breathing deeply so I can calm down a little) I can handle this.

I turn away from him to go to our bedroom. I entered then shut the door so I can have some privacy to call my manager.

Fine! I don't want Qing to know that my bills are being handled, not by me but by my manager. I can already picture it. If Qing knew that I let others handle my personal affairs, he will get mad again and call me lazy and irresponsible.

But the thing is, my manager always handled the business of paying my credit card bills and this is the first time that this thing happened.

I called my manager.

Unfortunately, and fortunately at the same time, he also had no idea why my bill statement has that huge amount written on it. He is also puzzled because my last month bill came and got paid without any hitch. I thanked my manager before ending the call.

I sat on the bed, clutching the bill on my hand, sighing tiredly.

What should I do now?
