The Vintage Watch pt2

Today, the morning came with bright colors. The sun is up, the wind is blowing gently. Birds flew in the clear blue sky.

The gods are taunting me. Giving me a perfect day while I feel like the most miserable human being.

As a way of punishment, I am eating a proper breakfast. I am having toasts, ham and eggs and freshly squeezed juice instead of my favorite cereals. I even plan on taking my iron sulfate tablet.

I'm in penitentiary mode.

My phone rings. I looked at the screen and saw that it's an unknown number calling me.

Now I don't know about you all but I know some people who don't take a phone call from an unknown number. Saying they are careful that way.

Well I am not like them. I hear my phone ringing, I take that call. I don't want to miss anything. A call from my parents or friends.

Who knew, maybe it is Qing calling using other's phone because his phone's battery died out.

So I took that call. A woman was on the other line. She said she's from the lost and found department of the broadcasting building where I lost the watch.

Lady: Hello, I am just inquiring if you are missing a watch.

Me: (gasping) Is it a vintage Rolex watch with a loose buckle?

Lady: Yes. A cleaning crew found it on the dressing room the other day and asked around who is missing a watch. It looks a bit expensive so he thought someone would be probably missing it. We are calling all the artist who used the dressing room that day.

Me: (breathing easier in relief) The watch is mine. Well more like it's owned by a friend. I just borrowed it...oh thank you thank you. Thank you so much that you guys found it.

Lady: (laughing) We are glad to help. You can come here and just claim it at the lost and found department.

Me: (excitedly) I will. I will...

I asked the lady for more details and then she ended the call.

When I put the phone down I laughed so hard I started crying. I wiped my tears, stood up and took out the box of cereal and the carton of milk.

My day is made already. I smiled as I look out at the window to gaze at the blue sky.

Me: So this is the reason why the sky is clear and lovely today.

In restrospect, even if there is a typhoon going on outside, I will still think it's a lovely day.

Qing's watch was found. This is a perfect day.

After breakfast, I forgot to take my iron tablets, but who cares (probably Qing but he is not here so shhhh)

I took a shower, dressed up casually and called my manager to ask him if he can drive me to the broadcasting building. He agreed.

We made a little detour before we got to our destination. I went staight to the lost and found department, say my hello politely and ask for the watch a cleaning crew found.

They just verified some details before they handed the watch to me. I presented them with drinks and sandwiches we bought along the way from a cafe as a way of thanking them.
