(Author's note: This one is a 3-part story.😊)
With friends like these, who needs enemies...
That is a famous tag line. And if ever I will write my own biography, this tag line will be my opening spill in one chapter of my book.
Qing has his own friends and I have my own. Qing's friends being his friends doesn't necessarily means they are my friends too. And my friends are also not required to be close to Qing.
That's not an issue between us. Qing doesn't force his friends to like me and he won't ask me to like his friends. If my friends doesn't like Qing, I won't convince them to like him, Qing can do that on his own if he really want to. And Qing not liking my friends doesn't mean I can't be with them anymore.
Separation of friends...we have that rule too.
Anyway I am talking about this because two of my closest friends are here in Beijing and we decided to meet up and get wasted enough for us to get alcohol poisoning (kidding! Of course we don't want that. But one of us got rushed in a hospital before because of alcohol poisoning. We had our rebellious stage too)
So, my friends, how to describe them?
They are the worst...
They are the kind that will be your wing men when you are courting a girl. They pour alcohol on your throat when you are broken hearted. Listen to your singing when you are down with problems. They are the kinds that will let you copy their assignments and answers in exams. Help you climb a wall when you want to skip class. Share a plate while eating, share a glass while drinking. Lend you their last money to buy a new pair of basketball shoes.
And at their worst? They are the kind that will hunt anyone that will dare to mess up with you. And they will cry for you when you are so angry and frustrated you can't even cry for yourself.
The three of us had been friends for twenty years now. One of them (I call him Xiao cause he is the smallest one with glasses on his eyes) I meet while I was still in diapers (we are neighbors and our mothers are childhood friends too). The other is Meng, Xiao and I met him on the first day of our nursery class. We went to the same primary school, high school but got separated in college.
But the bond we have is so strong, we see each other every month to get together until we all graduated. When we started having our own careers, that's when the "getting together" part got tricky. They are both staying back home up in the North while I stayed here in Beijing to be well...Feng Jian Yu.
We are all straight. Meng, who is the most good looking out of all of us, is a notorious serial dater (date only, no to serious relationship) until he met his fiancee almost a year ago. Now he claims he will be the most faithful husband to his beautiful soon to be wife.
Xiao, is the skeptical among us. Like me, he got brokenhearted before and I think that gave him some serious love phobia. We are working on him to give love another chance.
Then there's me...(sigh). The straight guy who fell to another guy. I can still remember our conversation when I told them both about Qing.
This happened while I was in the process of accepting that I have already fallen for Wang Qing. We already did the CA web series and released a song. While all that is happening Qing is convincing me to give us a chance and in my confusion I turn to my friends for advice. (For all the good it does to me)I went back to our hometown to
meet up with them for drinks and conversation.Me: (with a few bottles of beer in my system) So...I think I've fallen to someone.
