Chapter 1
Moana's POV
Maui and I started dating soon after we restored the heart of Te Fiti last year. I remember it like was yesterday. My seventeenth birthday was a few days after we had returned. Between Maui and I's victory of restoring the heart and my birthday, Montonui celebrated for a week and a half straight. Every night was full of partying and feasts. It was nice for the first couple of days but after that it got a little tiring. When the first night came that Maui and I got tired of celebrating, we sneaked down to cave of destiny. It's not actually called that, but I forget the actual name. It was there that Maui got down on his knees, took his hands in mine, gazed into my eyes ever so lovingly, and told me that he wanted me to his. Without a doubt, I said yes and we've been together ever since, but lately... his mind has been elsewhere.
Maui and I are sitting down on the shore. "Maui, can we talk?" It takes him a moment for him to actually look at me and nod a confirmation. "Maui, this past year of our relationship has been wonderful for the most part, but these last couple of months to be exact, it's like you've been physically here but mentally, you're somewhere far, far away. Tell me what's going on. As your girlfriend, I deserve to know." He sighs. "You're right Moana. I've been out of it lately and you do deserve an explanation. I promise I'll give you one soon, hopefully in a few days time. I just need to figure things out a little more. Just know that it has nothing to do with you. You haven't done anything wrong, I swear." I sigh but nod. I'll just have to be patient. After all, the last thing I want to do right now is to get into an argument with Maui.
