It Just Needs A Little Fixer Upper

Chapter 56

Tamatoa's POV

Two days later...

We arrived at Maui's island a few hours later than expected due to some rough seas from a storm this morning, but we survived like we always do. Though as we dock into the island, my heart breaks. The island is absolutely destroyed. Maui notices it too and the joyful smile on his face turns into an expression of heartbreak. Maui had some dark times on this island, but it was his home for a thousand years. It has deep meaning to him. Seeing the island destroyed like this is basically the universe's way of tainting his memories. I put a hand on his shoulder. "Maui, I'm so sorry babe." He puts a hand over mine and holds it tightly. "I can help you fix it Maui. All it needs some of the broken trees removed and some clean up. It'll be as good as new in a couple of days.

Maui turns around in shock. "You'd really do all of that just to make me happy?" I nod while blushing. "I'd do anything to make you happy and keep you safe. I'd even risk my life for you if need me. You're my everything Maui." Maui puts a finger under my chin and cups my face to get me to gaze right into his eyes. "I love you so much Tama. Thank you for marrying me." I look down sheepishly while biting my lip. "No, thank you for marrying Maui. What I said in my vows is a hundred percent true. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have gotten a second chance to become a man that I'm actually proud of. Most of my scars are gone but when some do appear, I know I can count on you to kiss them away." Maui presses his lips on mine and we kiss. I love when Maui kisses me. It's a feeling like no other.

When we pull apart, I have Maui led the way to where he wants to start fixing up first. He chooses the area surrounding his cave. I nod in understanding and start removing some of the trees from the cave entrance. From there, Maui picks them up and chucks them into the ocean. From there, the ocean dissolves them as if they never existed at all. My jaw drops and Maui laughs at my reaction. "You might want to close you mouth Crab Cakes or flies might get in it." I blush again like I have been regularly today. "I'm just amazed at what I just saw. I never knew the ocean could do that." Maui smiles warmly at me. "I didn't either until I tested it out once a few years back. Now I do it a lot."

Maui and I plug away at the fixing the cave and surrounding area and manage to get it all cleaned up within two hours. When we're done, we stop to take a break. Both of us sit on the ground and cuddle with one another. It's a little cool but not freezing. Since we started fixing things up, Maui's perked up a lot which is a relief. I wouldn't want my baby to be sad on our honeymoon. Honeymoons are just so special and they only come around once.
