Apologies and Love
Chapter 36
Moana's POV
I'm a little taken back by Maui's choice, but overall I'm relieved and happy for Tama. My father came in my hut a few minutes ago to tell me that Maui's on his way to talk to me. I've been pacing around nervously, finding both the strength to face Maui and the words I should say to him. As I'm pacing around, I don't even notice Maui barge into my hut. I freeze right in my tracks. "Hey Maui." Without saying anything, Maui picks me up and gently places me down onto my bed, sitting down beside me. "Maui, what are you doing here?" I ask even though I know exactly why he's here.
"Moana, I wanted to wholeheartedly apologize for everything that I've done, which includes hurting you over and over again and toying with your feelings. I had finally got over you, but seeing you with Loi brought out nasty jealously and rage. I guess I acted that way Moana because I truly just want the best for you and only the best. Even though I didn't choose you and we're no longer together, you're my best friend. Tama may be my lover, but the title of best friend always has and will belong to you. I love you Mo. Me being with Tama and you potentially being with Loi isn't going to change that." I gaze up into Maui's eyes before giving him a kiss on the cheek. "I forgive you Maui. No matter what you say or do, I can't stay mad at you for long. You've wormed your way too deep inside my heart you big goof."
He chuckles that throaty chuckle of his. "Do you still love your big goof of a friend?" I lean my head on his shoulder and smile when he gazes down at me. "I love my big goof of a friend with all of my heart. The amount of for him in my heart is enough for it to burst." He leans his head on my shoulder. We stay like this in silence for awhile until I end up falling asleep. The last thing I feel is Maui's lips pressed on my forehead as he tucks me in. I smile and wrap myself in a ton of blankets. For the first time in awhile, I feel loved.
