Chapter 46

Moana's POV

 The next day...

    I let the boys have the day off yesterday but today it's back to work. Speaking of a day off, I honestly could use one myself. Sadly being chief comes with very little free time. Though I am chief so I can do as I please, but I often feel guilty about doing so. I think I'll continue to do my duties the rest of the week and then I'll take the weekend off. Besides, I need to go shopping in the village for a few wedding related gifts anyway. I make my way over to Tama and Maui's hut. I'm about to knock when I see that the entrance is already open. That's strange... I open it a little bit more and giggle at what I see. Maui is snoring heavily on Tama's chest. Tama is awake but in a bit of a daze.

   In a whisper, I talk to him. "Hey Tama. Are you going to wake Sleeping Beauty?" He chuckles. "I would but he gets awfully grouchy when I do. I'd rather just wait it out. It's better that way." I nod in agreement because he's right. A happy Maui is much better than a grouchy Maui. "So Tama, what else do you want to do for wedding prep today?" He takes a moment to think. "I was wondering if we could go to our wedding location and try to stage the wedding out. I know it sounds strange and I understand if you don't want to." I put a finger up to his mouth to silence him. "That sounds perfect. Where exactly is the wedding location?" Tama gives me a cute smile. "Why the top of Mount Montonui of course?" I smile back. "That's an interesting choice of location.  Why'd you  two choose it?"

   Tama fiddles with his thumbs nervously. "We chose it for a few different reasons. One being that there is plenty of space to fit those who plan on attending the wedding, two being the view, and three being the meaning of it. Maui and I often come here to get and/or find peace. It's very peaceful up here." I look up at Mount Montonui fondly. "Yeah that it is. Well we'll head up there once Maui wakes up. Tama bursts into quiet laughter. "That might take a few hours." I laugh quietly myself. "That's okay because I have to find out the morning report and run some quick errands. Come find me when Maui's awake okay?" He nods and I head back into the village.

 Four hours later...

  Tama and Maui finally come find me. "It took you long enough Maui." He grins and flexes his muscles. "Oh hush Mo. You know that me getting my beauty sleep is important. By the way, I can simply fly us up to the top of Mount Montonui. It saves us having to hike up and down the mountain." I look at him with concern. "Are you sure you can carry both of us? I don't want to tire you out." Maui rolls his eyes. "I'll be fine princess." He grabs his hook and shifts into hawk form. With his eyes, he motions for us to get on. Once Tama and I are stable, he takes off towards Mount Montonui.

   Thanks to Maui, it only takes us five minutes to the top of the mountain because he flew us there. Tama gets off first and helps me off as Maui shifts back into his normal form. I grin at him. "I forgot how amazing flying is. Thank you Maui!" He sings "You're Welcome" and I glare at him. He simply grins and leads the way. He knows the location better than any of us, despite me having lived on this island my entire life. Maui probably pulled up Montonui. I wouldn't be surprised if he did. We stop after a couple of minutes and Maui dives right into a full description of what he pictures things being like. Tama and I nod along and occasionally contribute some thoughts of our own. The process takes about two hours before we head back down to the shore to hang out for a bit. As we relax on the shore, I smile to myself. Today was an accomplishing day. This wedding is well underway. I can't wait for it to actually come.
