Holy Matrimony

Chapter 52

Tamatoa's POV

It's moments before I'm due to walk down the aisle and meet Maui. Maui and I discussed a few days which one of us should walk down the aisle. He kept on insisting on it being me though I thought it should be Maui. The people of Montonui tolerate me well enough, but they absolutely adore Maui. After all, he saved their island from darkness. We went back and forth for over an hour before I finally caved and agreed to be the one to walk down the aisle. Though unlike the family that Maui has made here, I don't really have any besides Mo. Therefore Mo's going to be the one to walk me down the aisle to Maui and stand by our side in front of the crowd the entire time. She's our maid of honor/bridesmaid/best woman/wedding planner. We decided a couple of weeks ago that Mo is a bit of everything. Mo's just that good.

Mo helps touch up my face and what not with basic foundation to hide my pimples. Yes even the great Tamatoa gets pimples. They're hideous little things. I can't stand them. They ruin my beauty. I can't be as glam and shiny when I have damn pimples on my face. Mo smiles up at me. "You look great Tama." I smile and kiss her on the cheek. "Thank you Mo. You look absolutely beautiful. Loi's a lucky guy. Maybe you two will be the next ones to tie the knot." I notice the hope in her eyes. "Yeah maybe so." She adjusts my tie and puts her hands on my shoulders. "It's time." I nod, take a deep breath, and let her lead me down the aisle to marry the love of my life. As we walk down the aisle, everyone rises and stares at us fondly, though when my eyes meet Maui's, time comes to a halt. My heart begins to race as he studies every inch of my body, taking in my looks completely. I do the same to him, causing both of us to blush like crazy.

"You look so handsome Maui." Maui smiles at me lovingly. "You look even more than handsome. You look breathtaking, just as I knew you would be." A tear slips down my cheek but I don't bother to wipe it away. "I love you Maui." A tear slips down his cheek as well. "I love you too Tama. Now let's get married." We turn to face our priest, which is Moana's father. We figured he'd be a good fit for the position. He rambles a traditional introduction before Maui and I exchange vows. Maui and I both know ours by heart but I'm going first. I take a deep breath and begin:

"Maui, for thousands of years I was an evil monster who deemed myself unworthy of love and a second chance. Thanks to you, I received both pure, unconditional love and a second chance. You inspired me to come become a better man. I can't ever repay you for that. As for our love, it has such a powerful effect on me. Every day I fall more and more in love with you. You're my soulmate you stubborn demigod. You complete me. There is no me without you. I truly believe that you and me were meant to end up together."

Maui grabs my hands in his, looking deeply into my eyes as he begins his vows:

"Tama, my love, you're not a monster. In fact, neither of us were. We were simply misguided souls who sought to get back on the right path and we did. I'm so proud of what we've accomplished both individually and as a couple. You're an amazing person who has a bright future. In addition, you're my person. You're the person I fell so deeply in love with that I can't imagine myself standing at this altar with anyone else besides you. You think you're flaws as hideous, but I think they make you a beautiful soul. I love you my crab cakes. Don't ever forget that."

I glance at Mo who's a full on emotional mess. Mo's dad, Tui, then intervenes once more. "Maui, do you take Tamatoa to be your husband in sickness and in health, to love and cherish him for as long as you may live?" Maui gives me the most radiant smile I've ever seen on his face. "I do." Tui then looks at me. "Tamatoa, do you take Maui to be your husband in sickness and in health, to love and cherish him for as long as you may live?" I return Maui's radiant smile with one of my own. "I do." Tui grins. "By the power invested in me, I pronounce you husband and husband. You may now kiss." Maui pulls him towards me quicker than ever and kisses me with all of the love and power in the world. Cheers bloom around us but Maui and I don't focus on them, but rather our amazing kiss and the fact that we're finally married. As I predicted last night, this is the best day of my life.
