Chapter 90

Moana's POV

A month later...

  I'm due to give birth to the twins any day now. My stomach is a freaking boulder. I'm so ready to give birth to them already. I'm currently relaxing in Maui and Tama's hut when suddenly a world of pain begins. Both of them gasp in unison. "Mo what's wrong?", Tama asks. A bit of water runs down my legs and onto the floor, confirming my hunch. I look at Tama with pure fear. "M-My water just broke." Maui sits up straight, though he instantly regrets it because though he's home, he's still on a decent amount of treatments. I look at him sympathetically. "Maui, please relax. Tama, I need you to bring the doctor to us. Maui's not in the shape to make the trek to the hospital right now and I don't want to leave him alone." Tama nods and runs out of the hut in a hurry. I know we can count on him to get the job done. 

  I can feel Maui stare at me as I watch Tama fade off in the distance. I turn back to look at him. "W-What is it Maui?" He sits up slowly and bursts into a coughing fit before being able to respond. "Will I be a good dad Moana?" I gasp. Maui hardly ever calls me by full name unless he's super serious. "No." His nervous smile turns into a deep frown. I take his hands in mine and hold them to my heart to show him that I mean what I'm about to say. "You'll be best." Maui's frown turns into an adorable grin. "Thank you Mo." "You're welcome.", I sing in a playful tone mocking his deep voice. He rolls his eyes and gently holds me until Tama comes back with the doctor, which he does thankfully. 

    The doctor greets Maui and I and immediately begins laying me on a spare mattress that Tama happens to have. She props my legs open and does an uncomfortable exam, in which Tama and Maui look away thankfully. It'd be a little awkward to have my best friends staring into my vagina. The doctor pulls out after a couple of minutes and looks me in the eyes. "You still have a ways to go before the twins are ready to come out, but you are indeed in labor. Based on your current measurements, you're at least six hours away from giving labor. I will be here the entire time as will Maui and Tama I hope." She looks at him questionably to make sure they're in agreement. Both of them nod eagerly. 

Six hours later...

   I'm screaming at the top of my lungs while pushing out the twins. The boy comes first followed by the girl a few minutes later. When they're both out, I lie back and take a much needed deep breath to relax. I hold both babies for a moment before handing them to Maui and Tama. All of us have tears in our eyes. They're both beautiful. I look at both of them while crying tears of joy. "What are you two going to name them?" Both of them flash me breathtaking smiles. Maui is the first one to speak. "We're naming our son Taui, a combo of Tama and I." I giggle. "That's lovely. What about your daughter?" Tama looks me right in the eyes and says "Tala." Emotion over comes me and I break down. Maui puts his son down and wraps his arms around me tightly. "Oh Mo, please don't cry. We thought of that name to make you happy." 

   I look up at him and wipe them away with the back of my hand. "Maui, I'm not crying because I'm sad. I'm crying because that's literally the sweetest thing ever. It means so much to me that Tala will get to live in through your daughter. I'm sure she'll be just as wonderful as my grandmother." Tama puts down Tala and comes over to Maui and I. Meanwhile, the doctor cleans up both babies. "Mo, thank you carrying our babies for five months. I know it wasn't easy but you've given us the most amazing gifts in the world. We'll never be able to repay you for this. Never." I pull Maui and Tama's head to mine and kiss them both. "Neither of you have to repay me. I was happy to do it. You two saved my life and have been by my side for years. Plus, I get to be a cool aunt now. What's better than that?" The three of us burst into laughter. It's moments like these that I cherish the most.
